17 passengers killed,16 others injured in road accident in Kishtwar
Governor, others express grief over loss of lives,Gov announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia relief and Rs 50000 aid for injured



Kishtwar, September 14 (Scoop News)- seventeen passengers were killed and sixteen others injured in road accident in Kishtwar in Jammu region.


Police said the accident occurred at Dandaran, near Thakrai, when the driver of the mini bus, which was on its way to Kishtwar from the Keshwan area, lost control of it and the vehicle plunged into the over-300-foot gorge, near the Chenab riverbed, on Friday morning.


According to Police seventeen persons included three women died and sixteen others injured in the accident. Most of the victims died on the spot. One of the 11 critically injured persons, airlifted to Jammu for specialised treatment, was declared brought dead by doctors at the Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu.The driver of the ill-fated vehicle also died in the accident.


Meanwhile Governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed grief over the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in the Kishtwar district when a minibus carrying passengers fell into the Chenab river.
In his message Governor has prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families. He has wished speedy recovery to those injured in this accident.
Governor has announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia relief for the next of the kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to each of those injured in this accident. He has directed for providing free medical treatment to the injured in government hospitals.




Advisor Ganai grieved over loss of lives in Kishtwar road accident

Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in a road accident at Dandaran, near Thakrai in Kishtwar district on Friday morning.
Expressing his heartfelt condolence with the bereaving families, the Advisor prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident.






Tarigami expresses grief over the tragic road accident at Thakrie Kishtwar

CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed shock and grief over the tragic road accident in Thakrie area of Kishtwar in which 13 persons died and 15 were injured.

In a statement issued here today, the CPI (M) leader expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic loss of precious lives and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families.

Tarigami urged the government to provide free of cost medical treatment to the injured persons and ex-gratia to the families of deceased.

Voicing concern over growing road accidents in the state, Tarigami asked the government to come out with a report on action taken over recommendations of a House Committee headed by him that was constituted to prepare a comprehensive report on causes and measures to bring down the number of road mishaps in the state especially in erstwhile Doda District.

He said over six years have passed since the panel submitted its report, but the government is yet to come out with its action taken report on the recommendations.“This speaks volumes about the government's indifferent attitude towards this serious issue”.

"The repeated road accidents in Doda, Kistwar, Ramban and Udhampur districts is a grave concern for all of us.




NC expresses grief over deaths in road mishap at Dandaran, Kishtwar

National Conference leaders on Friday expressed profound shock and grief over the death of passengers in an unfortunate road mishap at Dandaran, near Thakrai in Kishtwar district.

Conveying their condolences to the families, who lost their dear ones in the tragic accident, National Conference Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana, former minister and MLC Mr Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, former minister Mr Khalid Najeeb Suharwardhy, Provincial President Youth National Conference Mr Ajaz Jan and Mr Tanveer Kichloo prayed for peace to the departed souls.

The National Conference leaders also prayed for strength to the bereaved members of families to bear their irreparable loss. They also wished speedy recovery to the injured in the mishap.

The National Conference leaders expressed concern over growing number of accidents in the area and called for putting in place effective road safety measures to save precious lives.
