| Interactive meeting with public of Deskit Nubra held in Leh | |
Leh, Feburary 09, (Scoop News)- As a preliminary measure to set up a Segregation and management centre for solid wastes at Deskit Nubra to bring solution to the growing problem of environmental hazard, the Deputy Commissioner, Leh Avny Lavasa yesterday took an important interactive meeting with the public of Deskit Nubra and other stakeholders and highlighted the silent feature of this project. The Councilor Deskit Tsering Wangchuk, Councilor Hunder Kunzang Lotos, SDM Nubra Sonam Norbu, Asstt. Com. Dev. Leh Tsering Paldan,Tehsildar Jigmet Raftan, all Sub Divisional level officers, Shopkeepers and other stake holders also attended the meeting.
Addressing a huge gathering, DC said that main purpose of setting up of this Segregation Centre is to involve the general people in this drive and make them well learned about how to manage solid wastes with manner to reuse of generated waste and its recycling process. Looking at the importance of this project in creating a health secure environment for all, Avny sought people’s participation at larger way and contribute towards keeping the society and environment neat and clean.
Avny Lavasa mentioning the success story of few months old Secondary segregation unit at Solar Colony Leh said that it is with the active participation of local people presently doing very well in managing solid wastes in Choglamsar with a visible cleanliness in the entire area.
The Councilors of Deskit and Hunder, SDM Sonam Norbu and ACD Tsering Paldan also spoke on the occasion and educated the people about the concept of establishing this Segregation Unit at Deskit which is likely to open by April 2018.
