| J&K Police continues drive against use of polythene Drive continues in the valley | |
Srinagar,January 16, (Scoop News)-Jammu & Kashmir Police along with civil administration continues its drive against use of polythene in the valley, wherein restricting the shopkeepers, other business units, hawkers and the general public to stop use of polythene. A huge quantity of polythene was seized and destroyed.
The drive continues in almost every district of the Kashmir Valley including Anantnag, Srinagar, Handwara, Budgam, Bandipora and Ganderbal wherein huge quantity of polythene was seized and destroyed. Many standing sign boards of different shopkeepers were seized by Police and civil administration which were kept on footpaths by erring shopkeepers and had occupied footpaths by which pedestrians were suffering badly.
In Handwara, Police along with executive magistrate, Munciplity committee seized a huge quantity of polythene and destroyed on spot. In Budgam, thousands of polythene bags and other polythene material was seized from various places/ business establishments and hawkers etc.
In Bandipora, police along with Tehsildar Sumbal and officials of Municipal Committee Sumbal seized about 10-15 kilograms of polythene bags from shopkeepers and were destroyed on spot. Many standing sign boards of different shopkeepers were also seized by Municipal officials which were kept on footpaths by erring shopkeepers and had occupied footpaths by which pedestrians were suffering badly. The drive was also launched in Ganderbal where police and civil administration seized polythene bags in many areas including Kangan, Gund, Safapora, Tullamula and other surrounding areas.
