LA Proceedings : Fruit, Vegetable Mandis in JK to get CAS facility: Basharat Bukhari

Jammu, January 15, (Scoop News)- The Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Ahmad Bukhari today informed the Legislative Assembly that the Horticulture Department is going to establish Controlled Atmosphere Storage (CAS) facility in all Fruit and Vegetable Mandis of the State in a phased manner.
Replying to a question by Mohammad Khalil Band, the Minister said Pulwama Fruit Mandi, involving a cost of Rs 2.61 crore with all components envisaged in the DPR, has been completed and made functional in 2007.
The Minister said that the additional developmental works have also been carried out in Pulwama Mandi over the years.
The cumulative expenditure incurred on Pulwama Mandi till March, 2017 was Rs 4.55 Crore. He said that during the current financial year an amount of Rs. 9.50 lakh has been released for completing pending developmental works of lavatory block; DG shed and chain link fencing.



PHC Rohama to be upgraded as Model Health Centre: Bali Bhagat
Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat informed the House that the PHC Rohama is being developed as model Health Centre with maternity and child healthcare services.
He said a proposal has been submitted to the Planning and Monitoring Department, adding that the demand for up-gradation of PHC Rohama as Sub-District Hospital was also projected by the MLA Rafiabad during the review meeting of District Development Board held on 2/1/2016.
The Minister was replying to a Question by Yawar Ahmed Mir in the House.
Mr. Asgar Ali Karbalai, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Usman Abdul Majeed, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Pawan Gupta, Daleep Parihar, Abdul Majeed Padar, B.A Dar raised supplementary questions and called for up-gradation of health services and filling up of all vacant posts of doctors and para-medics in the health centres falling in their areas.
Meanwhile, replying to a question by Kamal Verma, the Health Minister informed the House that the Public Health Centre Arnia does not qualify for up-gradation to the level of Sub-District Hospital.
He said against a population of 120000 souls for plain areas and 80000 for hilly areas as prescribed under Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) norms for up-gradation, Arnia has only a population of 70515 souls.
Mr. Javaid Rana, Mr. Mian Altaf and Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora raised supplementary questions with regard to up-gradation of health facilities and institutions in their respective constituencies.



Adequate infra available at TFC Chakan-Da-Bagh: Ganga
The Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga informed the House that adequate infrastructure has been created at Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC) at Chakan-Da-Bagh Poonch to facilitate smooth cross LoC trade.
He said the TFC is spread over an area of 89 kanals with administrative block, immigration block, parking space for trucks, barracks for security personnel, medical aid centre, toilet complex, etc. to facilitate cross LoC Trade and Travel. He said that an amount of Rs 7.59 crore was spent for creation and development of infrastructure in Phase-I , which included three Cargo Halls, one Administrative Block, waiting Hall for PoK drivers with canteen facility, X-Ray scanners, parking place for 45 vehicles, Diesel Generator Set, Toilet block, Weigh Bridge, Water Tank and Water cooler.
“Under Phase-II, an amount of Rs 10.25 crore was sanctioned for creation of additional infrastructure which included parking place for 60 vehicle, barrack for security (G+2), medical aid centre, dormitory for truck drivers, toilet complex, compound wall, ramps for rummaging, lawns, lighting facilities up to zero line” the Minister added.
Replying to a question raised by Shah Mohammad Tantray, the Minister said that there was no provision for block wise registration of youth/interested traders/firms for LoC Trade in the agreed Standard Operating Procedure (SoP).


1720 persons getting pension from SWD in Devsar constituency: Sajjad Lone
Minister for Social Welfare, Sajjad Ahmed Lone informed the Legislative Assembly that Department of Social Welfare is providing pension to 1610 persons under different welfare schemes in Devsar constituency.
He said 110 eligible persons were also provided benefit under State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS) in the Constituency, said the Minister.
The Minister was replying to a Question by Mohammad Amin Bhat in the House.



Sports infra projects approved for all districts under SPDSI: Ansari
Minister for Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports, Imran Raza Ansari today informed the Legislative Assembly that the Government of India has approved construction of Multipurpose Indoor Sports Halls in all 22 districts of State.
He said the projects have been sanctioned under Special Package for Development of Sports Infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
Replying to a Question by Dr. Devinder Kukmar Manyal regarding the status of Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall at Samba, the Minister said that work on the project was apace and is likely to complete in 12 months.
He further informed that under Khelo India, the State Government has sent a proposal for 31 projects to the Centre for funding.
Responding to supplementary questions of Neelam Langeh, Sheikh Jabbar, Rajesh Gupta and Javed Rana, the Minister said that Government is committed to upgrade the sports infrastructure across the State to promote the sports culture and all the proposed projects would be completed expeditiously.
