Budget proposals totally jugglery of figures exposing the total dependence on Central government:Vakil | | Jammu, January 12, (Scoop News)- President “Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek” and Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today reacting to the Budget presented by Finance Minister in the State assembly has termed the budget proposals totally jugglery of figures exposing the total dependence on Central government and total neglect of curbing rising unemployment in the State. Mr. Vakil described the budget against the interests of the poor people and said all those issues are absent in the budget which could have been helpful in strengthening the economy of the state. Budget indicates to make the poor poorer and the rich richer. Saying that unemployment is the main problem State is facing and is left untouched and budget does not propose adequate measures for raising the employment in the State and at the same time has offered nothing to those unemployed youth who want to setup their own industrial units. This is very important sector that the government must address otherwise the youth can be exploited by an enemy who is waiting for a chance to exploit them. Fruit industry is the backbone of the economy of the state, but nothing has been said to promote and strengthen the industry. The State produces 20,000 metric tons apple, only 10,000 metric ton has a market and the other 10,000 metric tons, which is B & C grade has no place in the market and gets wasted as government has no plan to utilize the same and the government has not offered any concessions to the horticulture industry which has been badly hit during 2016 unrest. Saying that government was expected to announce a waiver on the loans of the fruit growers but unfortunately government has shown no concerns for the revival of this ailing Industry. Mr. Vakil said tourism industry too has also not got the attention it deserved as the hotel industry is operating in difficult situation in Kashmir valley has taken a big hit after the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the State. People are facing power crises and it's surprising that the finance minister is silent about those power projects which are with the center and state government has failed to get them back. Similarly, the state government is purchasing meat outside the state for about 1500 crores but its unfortunate that nothing has been said in the budget for promotion of sheep breeding and which has a huge potential in the state. Lastly the present budget makes state totally dependent on the central government and has made no effort to make the people stand on their own legs which would have been better than to go to the center with a begging bowl on every sector. Tapping State’s own natural resources is only key to revival of ailing economy in the State Vakil added
