revives LOSAR festivities after over four decades.

Likir(Ladakh), December 23, (Scoop News)-After an interregnum of over four decades, the villagers of Likir revived the LOSAR festivities coinciding with the silver jubilee year of Lhukhil Gonyul Thudel Tsogpa amid religious fervor and enthusiasm.
Entire Likir village witnessed the festive mood amid reintroducing of previous presentations during LOSAR celebrations like Lama Jogi, Karok and Abi meymey to inspire the devotees who had not seen these shows on earlier occasions.
Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo, chief executive councilor (CEC) of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) presided over the function where a large number of people had congregated to celebrate the ongoing LOSAR cerebrations. He offered rupees 50,000 to Lukhil Gonyul Thudel Tsogpa for boosting of LOSAR festival and other major traditions.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dawa, said the celebration of these festivals bring unity and strengthens the cultural identity of the people. Under the tutelage of the elders, the people must be instrumental in protecting these principles and customs. He said the LAHDC is working out a detailed strategy to encourage winter festivals of Ladakh that would not only help in conserving the declining cultural ethos but would also help in boosting the tourism.
The executive councilor, Tsering Wangdus, appealed the people of other villages to revive important chapters of LOSAR if they had somehow discarded these celebrations.
Enumerating his list of demands, the head lama of Likir Monastery, Rev Lobzang Tsultim, urged the dignitaries present on the podium, to bring entire area under the coverage of mobile network as existing tower had failed to provide smooth communication facility to the local people.
