| Govt focusing on skill development, economic independence of women: Tak | | Inaugurates KVIB training center |
Kishtwar, November 17, (Scoop News)-Member Legislative Council (MLC), Firdous Tak, Friday said that state government led by Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti was focusing on sill development of women for their socio-economic upliftment making them financially independent.
“The Chief Minister was presently monitoring most of the schemes formulated and under implementation for economic upliftment of women in the state”, he said adding that today women has been given equal rights and opportunity making them a contributor in development and prosperity.
The legislator was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a tailoring, stitching training center established by Khadi Village and Industries Board in Palmar area of Kishtwar district. About 25 girls, from economically weak families, will be imparted training in the center with monthly stipend with future opportunities for opening of their own boutiques.
Tak thanked vice chairman KVIB, Peerzada Mansoor Ahmed, for conceding to the demand and hoped that in future more such centers will be established in this hilly region. He said that due to awareness created on the ground for the first time around 80 unemployed youth have been provided financial assistance by the Board to open their own business units.
He said that women in present day era are marching ahead in every field and it was need of the hour that requisite awareness and opportunities are created in the rural areas. Today around 100 Self Groups of women are actively working and generating finances under Rural Livelihood Mission of Rural Development Department. Similarly, Women Development Corporation is also working on the creating of self employment opportunities of women.
On the demand of the locals the legislators announced to provide 25 sewing machines for the girls undertaking training in the newly established centere
