‘Khoya Bachpan’ depicts the pain of children due to Kashmir unrest
Vomedh Rangmanch gives a befitting reply on Kashmir unrest anniversary through children’s play ‘Khoya Bachpan’

Jammu, July 08, (Scoop News)- ‘Khoya Bachpan’, a Vomedh Rangmanch presentation once again took the Jammu theatre audience by surprise through its intense play and most powerful performances on the lost childhood due to Kashmir unrest enthralling the jam-packed audience at Abhinav Theatre here on Saturday.
The play written by Rakesh Roshan Bhat and Directed by Rohit Bhat of famous ‘Ek Aur Birbal’ Chopayer Yei Gaash’ and Ateeth Ke Sakhshi’ Fame is a reflection of the mindset of Kashmiri Muslim children caught in the cobweb of radicalization by the separatist elements and the positive approach of the Kashmiri Pandit Children living in forced exile to convince the young radicalized Muslim child Altaf of the futility of ruining the childhood hood into the unending political quagmire of the adults.
Based on a true story ‘Khoya Bachpan’ is an introspective and reflective story of how parents think it is their prerogative to push innocent kids into their disputes and conflicts. They dump all their unfulfilled wishes into their innocent impressionable minds.. All then that remains is - ' Khoya Bachpan'.
The first and most affected victims of any conflict are children. Whether the conflict is inside the home or outside it, it is the children who have to pay the price. Ironically, they get embroiled into conflict without they knowing it.
Altaf, a young Kashmiri Muslim kid played by Ishu Bharati comes to Jammu for his treatment alongwith his father Muzaffar played by King C Bharati. They stay at the house of their family friend, a Kashmiri Pandit, whose daughter’s wedding is in progress. Altaf is a stone pelter in Kashmir. He has never seen life outside Kashmir. He feels that is what the norm is. But when he meets the Kashmiri Pandit kids there, he sees there is much more to life. He questions himself – is he doing willingly what he is doing there.
The group does not endorse any particular political ideology or thought. They are just a group of conscientious and passionate theaterists trying to evoke positivism, self-introspection and integrity through their plays.
The highlight of the play is that most of the artists are freshers’ and the surprise element was the debut of the senior journalist and renowned social activist King C Bharati as an actor playing Muzzaffar alongwith his son Ishu Bharati Pandit as Altaf.
Ajay Bharati, Hon’ble MLC was the Chief Guest on the occasion while former Chief Secretary and MLC Vijay Bakaya, Kiran Wattal, Ravi Tikoo State President Lok Janshakti Party and veteran theatre director Manzoor Ahmed Mir were the guests of honour.,
