Season’s first passenger bus arrives from Delhi | road opens for vehicular traffic after nine months of closure. |
Leh(Ladakh), June 8, (Scoop News)-After over 30 hours of travel covering nearly 1,050 kilometres from Delhi, season’s first bus has arrived here on Thursday from Delhi via Keylong, eyewitnesses said.
The bus meandered through several mountainous bends and curves and also surmounted four passes in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal like Tanglangla Pass (17,480 feet), Lachungla Pass (16,620 ft), Baralacha Pass (16,020 ft) and Rohtang Pass (13,500 ft). Rupees 1,380 is bus ticket fare for each passenger
Last week, the Border Roads organization (BRO) cleared the snow from the Manali- Keylong- Leh road and opened it for smooth vehicular traffic between the two points.
The road remains snow bound between October and June every year. Last year, the bus service was stopped in September due to early snow fall on the passes.
The bus leaves Leh transport yard at 5 am reaches Keylong at 7 pm, the same evening. After overnight stay at Keylong, it starts from Keylong at 6.30 am and reach Delhi 3.30 am next morning via Kallu and Manali.
434 km long Srinagar- Leh road opened last month after nearly six months of closure. A regular flow of trucks, buses, jeeps, cars and other vehicles continues since then.... |
