JKCCL faces mounting public indignation, annuls its earlier tender notice with changed title of a cable car project

Jammu, March 23, (Scoop News)-With growing undercurrent among the people of a particularly community against the change in nomenclature of Mubarak Mandi- Bahu Fort Cable Car Project, the concerned authorities have hurriedly revoked the tender issued on Friday last.

Bahu Fort houses an old temple which is being highly revered by the people from across the country and a cable car project linking Mubarak Mandi and historical Bahu Fort was announced by the previous government. It has been holding on since then.

Several political, social and religious groups are flustered seeking rescinding of the newly proposed name ‘Shahabad cable car project’ instead of its earlier title.

Taking a serious view at the attempt to change the title, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) leader, Harsh Dev Singh, charged the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) of being a party in establishing a bigoted coalesce in the

state.

However, after seeing the growing public anger, JKCCL invalidated its earlier tender notice without offering any valid reasons for the same. The order issued by the concerned executive engineer mentioned, “Tenders invited by this office vide NIT of 2017 dated 17.3. 2017 which were scheduled to be received on 29.3.2017 stands cancelled till further notification.”

Jammu and Kashmir cable Car Corporation Limited (JKCCL) had issued a notice Vide 01-Jmu of 2017 dated March 17, 2017 inviting tenders for construction of a cable car project. Surprisingly, it did not mention anything about its two important points viz Mubarak Mandi and Bahu Fort but it mentioned, “Construction of a wall on entry of Shahabad Station of Cable Car Project at Shahabad Jammu.”

“It is reprehensible, blatant irreverence and unacceptable,” Singh asserted and said, “the revocation of the tender notice is not sufficient unless the title of the project is not restored to its original name and style.”

JKNPP leader said this was not the first such instance. Earlier also the tourism department, a nodal agency, had named Hari Parbat in Kashmir as Koh I Maran as the venue of Kashmir Fort Festival last year in its invitation cards, advertisements and brochures. An attempt is also being made to change the identity of a centuries old Shankarcharya temple, perched on a hill, as Takht i Suleiman and Anantnag town as Islamabad....
