| Drug abuse promotion in Kashmir a conspiracy: DAK | |
Srinagar, October 8 (Scoop News)- Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today said that the menace of drug abuse in Kashmir has reached unprecedented levels and the situation has become explosive.
President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan in a statement said that drug abuse in valley is promoted in a well planned conspiracy to wipe out youth of the valley.
Drugs are new weapons used for destroying our young generation.
The hope and future of Kashmir is lost to drugs.
Youth are targeted by drugs to make them physically, mentally and psychologically morbid.
Substance abuse is a wicked conspiracy to destroy our social fabric and cultural traditions.
It is shameful at the same time painful that law enforcing agencies are involved in drug trafficking and supply to the youth.
This shocking revelation was made by none other than the concerned Minister on the floor of the house who said that police agents distribute drugs to youth.
Cannabis, the commonest substance abused, the crop of which is cultivated in Kashmir under the noose of law enforcing agencies.
Once the drug is consumed, the person becomes physically and psychologically addicted and quitting becomes difficult, even for those who are ready to do so.
Drug abuse and addiction have negative consequences for individuals and for society.
Government is reluctant to ban alcohol which is one of the major substances abused in Kashmir.
It kills and causes morbidity.
It is ironical that in Muslim dominated state alcohol is promoted while as in Gujarat and other states it is banned.
