Chief Secretary stresses on 100 percent Aadhaar enrollment
Asks DCs to mobilize people, facilitate enrollment

Srinagar, September 29 (Scoop News)-Chief Secretary, B R Sharma Wednesday underscored the urgency to ramp up Aadhaar enrollment of citizens of the State.
Chairing the 1st meeting of the Unique Identification Implementation Committee (UIDIC) here, Chief Secretary emphasized on completing the essential Aadhaar enrollment as Aadhaar Card holders will be eligible for receiving food grains, Kerosine and LPG from ration depots and LPG distributors after December 31st 2015.
Chief Secretary asked the Census department to augment districts lagging behind 100% Aadhaar enrollment target and provide these with the necessary number of machines to enable completion of Aadhaar enrollment before December 2015.
Chief Secretary also asked all Deputy Commissioners to mobilize people and proactively facilitate their Aadhaar enrolment. He said use of both Permanent Enrollment Centers (PECs) as well as Mobile Enrollment Centers should be made so that the target of 100% Aadhaar enrolment is achieved in the State.
Earlier, Secretary IT briefed the Chief Secretary about the status of Aadhaar enrollment in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the total Aadhaar penetration as on 20th September 2015 stood at 49% of the total population of the State, as per the Census 2011. He said 61 Lakh citizens have been provided Aadhaar cards and the process of covering the remaining is being done. As per Census 2011, J&K has population of over 1.25 Crore.
Issues related to Aadhaar enabled Bio-metric Attendance System (BAS), Jeevan Parman (Computer Generated Digital Life Certificate) for pensioners, and establishment of grievance cell pertaining to Aadhaar enrollments were also discussed in the meeting.
