Rs 1.10 crore being donated by BJP leaders for Ladakh


Jammu, September 3 (Scoop News)-Adopting a humane approach towards the affected families of the recent cloudburst and floods in Ladakh region, the BJP Rajya Sabha MP and all the eight Members of Legislative Council plus single nominated woman Member Legislative Assembly belonging to BJP have decided to donate a total of Rs. 1 crore 10 lakh from their respective Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to LAHDC.
This was announced in a joint press conference addressed by Rajya Sabha MP Shamsher Singh Manhas alongwith MLCs—Ashok Khajuria, S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa and Ajatshatru Singh.
Shamsher Singh Manhas said that the recent natural calamity in Ladakh region has caused losses and rendered many families houseless and the need of the hour is to extend a helping hand to them on humanitarian grounds. He said that although a single MP/ MLA/ MLC cannot provide much funds to help the affected families but still our colleagues have taken a unanimous decision that every MLC and the woman MLA will donate Rs. 10 lakh each from their CDF and the Rajya Sabha MP will donate Rs. 20 lakh from MPLAD for the same purpose.
Manhas said that a total of rupees one crore 10 lakh will be handed over to LAHDC so that it is utilized for relief and rehabilitation as per the priority and need of the affected families adding that it is LAHDC which has more liaison and dealing with the people in Ladakh and hence is the appropriate body which should be involved in the matters related to giving any sort of financial or other help for the benefit of the sufferers of natural calamity.
Shamsher Singh Manhas also announced that the party has nominated State Vice-President & MLA Sat Sharma (C.A) as Incharge and State General Secretary Munish Sharma as Co-Incharge for the forthcoming elections to LAHDC adding that the party has also deputed its MLAs for campaigning in each of the 26 constituencies for the said elections.
BJP State Vice-President & MLA Sat Sharma (C.A) and State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan were also present in the press conference.
