Spalbar urges people of Ladakh to give quality education to children

Leh,April 30 (Scoop News)-The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar while meeting with the people of Changthang at various places during his 6-day extensive tour of the region strongly urged for focusing on quality education laying a well-built foundation for the future career of their children. CEC said that the children of Changthang have proved their capability in all fields as and when they get opportunity. The need of the moment is to drive them for higher education with more investment whatever the people of Changthang earn from the Pashmina and other products, CEC added. To get a good job in this competitive era, Spalbar said that everyone has to become excel with good percentage.
At Anlay-buk, CEC inaugurated the newly sanctioned Medical Sub-Center where CEC greeted the people for fulfilling their long standing demand. At Anlay Gonpa, Sarpanch Nawang Namgyal apprised the CEC about drinking water problem for the monks.CEC issued on spot instructions to the PHE department to do the needful.
On behalf of the people of Anlay, the Councilor Thupstan Wangchuk put forth a charter of demands to the CEC that includes opening up of a Bank branch at Anlay considering the existence of more than 2000 locals and other military and paramilitary forces and staff of Astrophysics Centre. Having a bank branch here would also facilitate the pensioners as well as for payments under MGNREGA, the demand said.
It was brought into the notice of CEC that a 42.5KV Solar Power Plant was installed at Anlay Khaldo two years back spending crores of money which is still lying idle and the people are continuously suffering for want of lighting. The Councilor and the people strongly urged the CEC to have his interference in making the plant functional at the earliest. Responding to this issue, Rigzin Spalbar said that LREDA has an image in Ladakh for good workings, but such lapses could blemish their reputation. However, CEC assured to make the plant functional by activating LREDA very soon.
One major demand of the people of Anlay was to post a Doctor in the area keeping in mind the remoteness of the area with thick population. Completion of the pending residential school building under MSDP, need of a feed bank for animals to meet the exigencies, hand pumps, up gradation of roads, posting of required number of staff at Medical Centres, one more Solar Power plant for Anlay-Punguk were among other demands.
CEC addressing the people at various places said that Anlay too witnessed a good progress in all important fields like road connectivity, telecommunication, education and health sectors. Having their elected representative in LAHDC and existence of Panchayat system, the question of discrimination in getting equal developmental share for remote and far-flung areas does not arise, CEC said and adding that even the Council is much more committed for betterment of people living in remote and rural areas.
At Kuyul, the people again raised the issue of long pending demand of up gradation of Dungti-Kuyul road. Improvement of link roads of Kuyul, up gradation of existing Solar Power Plant also put forth by the Kuyul Goba Urgyan Randol.
CEC speaking to the people said that Dungti-Kuyul road is however reflected under PMGSY and now, the BRO is taking this road in hand. To ensure early construction of this road, CEC assured the people to pursue the case with BRO. Owing to increasing demand and good price of Pashmina in

market, CEC urged the people to give more attention for promoting pashmina production. He also advised the people to fully cooperate with All Changthang Pashmina Growers Cooperative Marketing Society Ltd. which assures good price to all their pashmina produces besides shield them from distress sales in the hands of middle men.
Recognizing their excellent public service in this remote village, the school teachers, ICDS workers and the Food Storekeeper were honoured by offering Khataks by the CEC on the recommendation of the villagers of Kuyul.
In the afternoon today, the CEC along with his team visited Demjok and Tsaga villages and listened to the people’s demands and grievances.
On his way to Anlay yesterday, CEC visited Loma and Rongo villages. At Loma people urged for early completion of pending foot bridge. The people of Rongo demanded for repair of Rongo bridge and construction of a Food store. They also demanded allotment of land in Leh for a Sarai building for the people of Rongo.
At Middle School Mudh yesterday, CEC inaugurated a new building constructed under SSA. It was told to the CEC that the wooden flooring was sponsored by Mr. JH Hont, Director Lotus Flower Trust UK.
The EC, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Gyurmet Dorjey, EC Health Dr. Sonam Wangchuk, Councilor area Thupstan Wangchuk, SDM Nyoma Kacho Turab Shah and the officers and engineers accompanying the CEC on Changthang tour.
