CEC,LAHDC Leh visits Chumathang region

Leh,, April 29 (Scoop News)-The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh on his second day tour of Changthang region today visited Chumathang, Nee, Skidmang, Mahey, Niddar, Nyoma, Mudh and Rongo where he took first hand information from the public about the implementation of various developmental schemes being carried out in their villages.
At Kesar, CEC inaugurated a Foot Suspension bridge over Indus which is constructed by the PWD Special Sub-division Nyoma under BADP at a cost of Rs: 60.83 lacs. CEC also inaugurated a Veterinary Hospital at Nyoma constructed by the PWD Nyoma under NABARD at a cost of Rs: 20.17 lacs. Moreover, the building of Anganwadi Centre Nyoma Fu was also inaugurated by the CEC today.
At Chumathang, a number of demands put forth to the CEC that include opening of Centralized residential school for the students of Chumathang and surrounding villages, black topping of link road, beautification of Hot Spring site, upgradation of the capability of BSNL tower and completion of pending irrigation channel.
Responding to the demand of opening a centralized residential school at Chumathang, CEC said that such many proposals from other places also received by the Council. But due to funding constraint, Council is not in a position to open such residential schools at this point of time. For other demands, CEC issued on the spot instruction to the concerned officers and engineers to attend immediately to the people’s grievances.
At Kesar, the people demanded for BSNL tower which could cover Nee and Skidmang villages also. CEC assured the people to take up the matter with the BSNL authority.
In random, the people of Rong-Chhurgyud keeping in mind the potentiality of the area demanded for providing technology for production of Yak Cheese which has high value addition with huge demand in the market. In this direction, Spalbar issued on the spot instruction to the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Abdul Qayum to initiate necessary training to the people within one week.
The people of Skidmang, keeping in view the holy sermon by His Holiness Sakya Trizin Rinpochey in July this year and expected gathering of large people here, demanded for improvement and upgradation of basic infrastructure like road, drinking water supply, power supply, public convenient, ration etc. Here, CEC assured the people that Council would take every possible measures for improvement of basic infrastructure for the event by activating concerned deptts.
Yesterday during his visit to Kumdok, the people in one voice demanded for black topping of Kumdok road on first priority.They also demanded to connect this village with electricity supply and opening of a Veterinary Centre considering the existence of more than 300 yaks in the village. It was came to the notice of CEC that NRHM staff of MAC Kumdok is absent from duty since 26 March and this regard, CEC taking a serious note asked the Executive Councilor Health to take disciplinary against the absentee staff.
At various places, CEC enquired the people about the inclusion of genuine elderly people and physically challenged persons under the ambit of Old Age pension and other schemes and in this regard, CEC issued directions to the District Social Welfare Officer to do a quick survey of all the villages and initiate measures for inclusion of every genuine people under the pension schemes.
At the end of CEC’s tour in Kyungyam constituency, the area Councilor Dorjey Motup extended thanks to the CEC and his team for making a detail visit and see the people’s developmental aspiration in Rong-Chhurgyud area and said that CEC’s tour will proven to be a tool for bringing solution to the public grievances and pace in developmental works.
At Nyoma, The Area Councilor Thupstan Wangchuk, SDM Kacho Turab Shah, Sarpances, Goba and the people gave a warm reception to the CEC and his team. Here at Middle school, CEC inaugurated a large aluminium glass room under BAD Pocket scheme, four newly constructed class rooms under Operation Sadbhavana, new wooden flooring of four class rooms financed by Mr. JH Hont, Director Lotus Flower Trust UK.
CEC also inaugurated a Yak Cheese Maturation Chamber at Nyoma today and asked the Animal Husbandry Deptt. to make the plant functional at the earliest to ensure benefit to the locals.
Congratulating the people of Nyoma, Rigzin Spalbar said that people of Nyoma realizing the importance of quality education for their coming generation have been taking extra pain for improvement of education in the area since last few years . As a result, the Higher secondary School Nyoma has been continuously fetching commendable results, CEC said and adding that this is a beginning and we have to achieve lot more. CEC made a special mention that most of the people, be it the Govt. employee or public, giving importance for their rights only by grossly overlooking at their duties. The need of the hour is to shoulder duty and responsibility by everyone including the students for overall and sustainable development of Ladakh.
