Complete Bandh was observed in Jammu over AIIMS issue
Jammu, April 24 (Scoop News)- Complete Bandh was observed in Jammu city and adjoining districts of region on Friday on the call given by different political and social organizations over the shifting of AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir.


Bandh affected normal life in Jammu city as all the shops and business establishments remained closed and public transport was off the roads.


The bandh was called by the Jammu Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and is supported by various political, social, transport and trade organisations of Jammu.


Police said that bandh remained overall peaceful, there was no report of any untoward incident in Jammu region.

Various organization including, Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu , VHP,Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena ,SRS,Trade Association taken out anti-government rallies in Jammu.

Meanwhile Congress expresses gratitude to the people over complete bandh.

Reacting to the complete shut down in Jammu on the joint call of the various trade and social organizations besides Congress party, JKPCC has said that people have reflected their anger over the unholy alliance of BJP with PDP and its policy of surrender and taking their electorate for granted.
Chief Spokesman of the Party Ravinder Sharma said that bandh was complete and voluntary which is answer to arrogance of BJP and its policies of deceit with people of Jammu Region after securing their mandate on the promise of ensuring justice and empowerment of people of Jammu region.
The Congress had been questioning BJP for its stand on various issues especially granting of AIIMS to Jammu after having announced the same on Feb. 28. He said that Congress questioned the Government in the State Legislature and launched a movement by holding protest demonstrations at all Dist. Headquarters including in front of Raj Bhawan Jammu on April 13 but the BJP maintained its criminal silence on the issue so far.
The unity of people and initiative of various organizations including Chamber, Bar, Transporters besides other right thinking citizens and political and Social outfits is a welcome step and the Centre and State Government can no longer remain silent spectators to the present unrest and anger of people displayed by them today.
He said that Congress leaders and workers all over Jammu Province joined the massive protest demonstrations amidst the bandh, to register the anger of the people over the policies of the present dispensation of the Centre and the State over the issue. Protest demonstrations were held at various township and Dist. Headquarters in the Province.
The PCC strongly condemned the police lathi charge on the peaceful protesters at Dogra Chowk Jammu in which several Congress leaders and workers were injured including PYC President Pranav Shagotra, Anoop Gupta.


Prof.Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party also extended heartful congratulations to the entire civil society of Jammu Pradesh, particularly the youth, students, working class, shopkeepers and lawyers’ fraternity including the transport unions and Chambers of Commerce in Jammu for demonstrating a unique oneness and unity in conveying their message straight and strong that the people of Jammu are united and shall not tolerate injustice and discrimination anymore by the power that be in Delhi or in Srinagar.
Prof.Bhim Singh said that Jammu Bandh was a real people’s bandh with clear message that Jammu Pradesh shall go together in all circumstances and all stages to counter and defeat any anti-people move by any government at any time.
NPP Supremo called on the civil society and the people from all walks of life to stand together, struggle together and fight jointly against all kinds of discrimination with youth, students, refugees, migrants, ST or SC or OBC or any other depressed classes. He announced that three days open conference shall be held in Jammu in the near future with the participation of all sections of the people irrespective of their political affiliations, or ideological commitments just to develop a kind of unity so that the state is reorganized with amendment in Article 370. This is only way out to ills of the state. Prof.Bhim Singh bravoed the Panthers Party leadership for working hard and in cooperation with all the Jammuites.
