| Govt will ensure inclusion of Gojri Languages in Indian Constitution : Zulfkar | |  Jammu, March 17, (Scoop News)- Maintaining that the Jammu and Kashmir Government will ensure the inclusion of Gojri Languages in the 8th Scheduled of the Indian constitution, Ch. Zulfkar Ali , Minister for Consumer Affair, Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs today calling upon the writers, intellectuals to strive for promotion of the Gojri language and work for bind of Gujjars-Bakrwals Tribal identity.
Minister was speaking in a inaugural function of Two Day State Level Gojri Literary and Cultural Meet organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Cultural and Languages at K.L Siaghal Hall, of Abhinav Thratre Complex Jammu.
He committed to meet Home Minister of India soon and press upon him for an amendment in the Indian Constitution to include Gojri in the list of official languages of India.
Regarding opening of Gojri department in the state universities including Jammu University, Kashmir University and BGSB University the Minister assured that he will take up the matter with Chief Minister, Education Minister and other authorities.
He said there is strong need for regular news bulletins in Gojri from Radio Kashmir Jammu, Srinagar and he will meet Union I&B Minister on this issue and issue of strating of a regular programme on Doordarshan Channels.
He assured that adequate funds will be allotted to Gojri wing of Academy for reprinting of the books which were destroyed during the recent flood in Srinagar.
He praised Gujjar Researcher , Dr. Javaid Rahi’s for his regular efforts for preserving and promoting the Gujjar identity at all levels which deserved to be rewarded.
Earlier in his well come address Haroon Rashid, Secretary, Academy stated that Gojri is an important language of the state and Academy is running a full-fledged wing and a number of schemes for promoting the rich cultural and tradition of this community.
Dr. Javaid Rahi, Head and Chief Editor, JKAACL, in his address stated that this year Academy is publishing 20 books in Gojri, English and Urdu on different aspects of Gujjar cultural heritage. He said that a translation project which was started in the year 2010 to translate 50 world classics into Gojri is nearest to completion as 32 books from Persian, Arabic, Sanskrit, English, Urdu, Kashmiri have been rendered into Gojiri.
Prominent writer Ch. Gulzar Khatana. who was sharing the presidium also spoke on the occasion.
Dr. A.S.Amn, Additional Secretary, Academy presented a brief account of future activities to be taken into the hand by the Academy for promotion of the Gojiri language.
This was followed by paper reading session where in 3 research paper on Gojri Sufiyana poetry, Gojri movement in J&K and issue of Tribal identity of Gujjar have been presented by Er. Abdul Ghani Jagal, Ch. Gulzar Ahmad Khatana and Munshi Khan Chowdhiry.
The state level Gojri short-story was also held, in which Hameed Kasana, Rashid Shabnam, Dr. Mirza Khan Waqar, Mohd. Ashraf Chouhan, Prof. Arif Sajjad and Ch. Parvex Akhtar presented their new creations.
The inaugural session was started with presentation of Baet of Khuda Baksh Zar and Sian Qaddar Bakashs by renowned Gojri artists Ayaz Saif and Bashir Mastana.
Tomorrow there will be 3- Sessions included Paper reading session, Music programme and State level Gojri Mushaira.
Ch. Abdul Gani Kohli, Transport Minsiter will be the Chief Guest on the conclusion function.
