| Rajendra felicitates outstanding police sports person | | Jammu, February 26, (Scoop News)-The Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today felicitated 19 sports person of Jammu and Kashmir Police, who have shown outstanding performance in different disciplines during the year 2014.
Speaking on the felicitation function held at Armed Police Complex here today, Rajendra highlighted the importance of sports in the physical and mental development of youth.
Mr Rajendra said that JKP is contributing overwhelmingly towards promotion of sports in the state. Various sports events are organised in all districts of the state, providing a competitive platform for the budding players to showcase their talent, he added.
Rajendra said that JKP, besides its professional policing, has been organising many sports tournaments to nurture younger talent within and outside the organisation. “Our efforts have been yielding good results and the sports persons of JKP have proven their mettle at national and international levels, bringing laurels for the nation”, the DGP said.
The sports persons felicitated include wushu coach, Kuldeep Handoo, volleyball coach, Sajjad Hussain, boxing coach, Satyakam Sharma, international fencer, Rashid Ahmad, Mountaineers, Ram Singh and Stanzin Youthok, wrestling coach, Om Prakash, international kayaks, Zahoor Ahmad, Adil Mohi-u-Din and Pervez Ahmad, water sports coach, Farooq Ahmad, wrestlers Binia Amin and Roshan Sharma, lady pugilists, Khalida Bano, Anju Bala, Asha Jamwal, Rajni Devi, Wushuist Kamal Kishore and power lifting player Manoj Singh.
Earlier, the ADGP (Armed), S. M. Sahai thanked the DGP for felicitating the sports person and said that it would encourage them for future events.
Among others, the function was attended by ADsGP, SP Vaid and VK Singh, IsGP, Dr. B Srinivas, AK Choudhary, HK Lohia, Deepak Kumar, SJM Gillani, Yoginder Koul, Muneer Ahmad Khan and SL Sharma, AIsGP, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, Rajeshwar Singh, Tahir Sajjad and Kulbir Singh, SO to ADGP Armed, Javaid Ajmed Mattoo and other police officers.
