| Mathematics playing vital role in day today life: Prof Hamal | | 
Rajouri,February 01, (Scoop News)-In order to popularize Mathematics, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri hold one day Students Conference in which about 250 students of various Universities and Colleges of Jammu province participated and presented talks and presentations.
The Conference was organized by Department of Mathematical Sciences of BGSB, University, under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal who was chief guest of the occasion and under the supervision of Dr. Zaheer Abbas, Head of the Department .
In his address Vice Chancellor said that Mathematics plays a vital role in making the life comfortable through usage of technology. He added that being very important subject, the need of hour is to learn mathematics and also popularize it and BGSBU is playing the role for its popularizing for the last 10 years. He also stressed upon the students and staff of the department to organize such type of activities regularly for the benefit of students and society. He assured the faculty members of the department for his full support to execute such activities and for providing platform to the students to show their talent, which else remain hidden.
On the occasion Prof A.K Koul, Dean Academic Affairs also highlighted the need and importance of mathematics and stressed upon the students to opt this subject. Eminent personalities Prof. Asghar & Prof Shakeel Ahmed Raina Principal GDC Budhal were present who appreciated the role of Dr. Zaheer Abbas and his his team Dr. Javed Iqbal, Dr. Pawan, Tanveer, Naveen Sharma and Mohd Arif, for their tireless efforts to make the event successful. Asif Ajaz Lone(Assistant Professor) and Bilal Rashid , Assistant Director Planning Health were the jury members in the conference.
At last prizes in each category were distributed among the top three winners. The participating Institutions were PG Department of Mathematical Sciences, BGSB University Rajouri, Department of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, Govt PG Degree College Rajouri, COET BGSB University Rajouri, Govt. Degree College Reasi, Govt. Degree College Mehdhar, Govt. Degree College Poonch, Govt. Degree College Thanamandi, Govt. Degree College Budhal and Himalayan Degree College Rajouri besides various Schools of the District.
Prof. Irshad A. Hamal Vice Chancellor of the University distributed the prizes to the winners of the Conference and written Competition category wise:
The winner of Conference & Presentation under graduate category was won by Allia Iqbal of Himalayan Degree College, Ghulam Mohd Tantray of COET, BGSBU got 2nd Position. Miss Sobia Firdous of GDC Mendhar got 3rd position. Whereas 4th position was shared by Miss Krishma Suri, Mehmood Hussain & Zahid Mir of GDC poonch, GDC Surankote and GDC Budhal respectively whereas in PG category Shayesta Farooq Lone of Deptt. of Mathematical Sciences BGSBU Rajouri clinched 1st position. Nisha Arora of Department of Maths, SMVDU Katra got 2nd position whereas Mr. Qasim Ch and Miss Saima Maqbool of Department of Mathematical Sciences BGSBU shared 3rd and 4th position respectively.
In the Conference under School category, Umahviya Qureshi of Panorama Public School Rajouri clinched 1st Position, Mr. Zohaib-ul-Hassan of HEM School got 2nd position and Mr Sajjad Hussain of International School Rajouri got 3rd position. whereas 4th Position was shared by Sahil Thakur of AGPS Rajouri and Asiya of S.R College Rajouri .
In Written Competition, under PG Category, Zahid Bashir, Abhishek Sharma and Mohd Qasim of Dept. of Mathematical Sciences BGSBU Rajouri got 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively, whereas 4th position was shared by two candidates Roohie Mushtaq of BSGBU and Rahul Basotra of Shri Mata Vaishnoo University, Katra. Under graduate category Zahid Hussain of GDC Poonch stood at 1st Poistion, Iqra Latief of COET, BGSBU got 2nd position, whereas Khushal Gupta of Himalayan Degree College, Rajouri got 3rd position. Miss Ruksana of GDC Surankote clinched 4th position in the same competition. In School Category Bushra Fatima and Saniya Ayoub of Himalayan Education Mission HSS, Rajouri got 1st and 2nd position respectively. Whereas 3rd position was shared Amim Altaf of Dehli Public School, Sajan Raina of International HSS Rajouri and Sandeep Kour of HEM School. 4th position was agains shared by Mohd Ibrar of HEM School, Sayed Ashfaq of INHSS and Umer Mirza of AGPS Rajouri.
