| R.S Chib hails decision of Cabinet for approving package | | for one time settlement of displaced persons |
Agra Chak (R.S. Pura) ,October 17, (Scoop News)- Former Minister and General Secretary JKPCC R.S.Chib while addressing a public meeting at Agra Chak yesterday, hailed the decision of the State Cabinet for approving package for one time settlement of displaced persons of POK & Chhamb, which is being forwarded to the Union Government for funding. It is unfortunate that some members of Cabinet belonging to National Conference have tried to scuttle the same. However the National Conference did not succeed because of the forceful intervention of our Congress Ministers, including Deputy Chief Minister.
Mr. Chib said that this long pending demand of the refugees of POK and Chhamb (1965 & 1971) did not get the attention of any earlier Governments, except when Jb. Ghulam Nabi Azad then Chief Minister, consulted all refugees leaders belonging to Congress party and with the help of senior Congress leaders of Jammu region and formulated a plan for final one time settlement of the subject refugees. Further this issue of settling of refugees problems highlighted when it was taken up, with the Government of India in 2011 by a delegation led by Prof. Saifuddin Soz President JKPCC which included all Congress Ministers of Jammu region, Ex-MP Sh. Madan Lal Sharma and other senior refugee leaders. The delegation submitted a memorandum to Dr. Manmohan Singh then Prime Minister, Smt. Sonia Gandhi AICC President and Sh. Sushil Kumar Sindhey then Home Minister of India for immediate settlement of refugees problems, pending before the Government of India.
Mr. Chib further said that this issue is being persistently perceived by Prof. Saifuddin Soz, Jb. Ghulam Nabi Azad and our Congress Ministers under the guidance of Smt. Ambika Soni-General Secretary Incharge Congress Party with Government of India for final settlement of refugees those who are suffering for last many decades. Simultaneously Prof. Saifuddin Soz being head of the Coordination Committee of the state coalition Government, have maintained a constant pressure on the state Government for its approval by the State Cabinet and forwarding the same to Government of India for funding Smt. Ambika Soni & Jb. Ghulam Nabi Azad have also maintained a constant channel of communication with the State Government for approval of the Cabinet.
Mr. Chib, further explained that the policies of Congress Party are always pro-people and expressed confidence that the issue of final settlement of our refugees lot will be, solved in the near future. The other speakers in the meeting while addressing the pubic, appreciate the role of Congress party for bringing this issue in this level because of the sincere efforts of the Congress high Command and other leaders of the Party.
