Free Banihal from corrupt politicians: Molvi Rashid

Jammu, September 02, (Scoop News)- Senior National Conference leader and former Deputy Speaker Molvi Rashid has exhorted people to free the politics from corrupt elements by their power of vote and set a benchmark of electing honest and public spirited representatives.
“Banihal has been the worst victim of corrupt elements and time has come when these are to be removed from the public life”, Molvi Rashid said at a party convention here.
The convention was also addressed by NC candidate from Banihal Assembly Constituency Sajjad Shaheen and attended by District and Block presidents, other functionaries besides the Panchs, Sarpanchs and prominent citizens of the area.
Molvi Rashid lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Mr Omar Abdullah, saying his revolutionary measures like RTI and Public Services Guarentee Act will largely help in bringing transparency in the administration and weeding out corrupt elements. He urged the people to make best use of these legislations and feel empowered in asking questions.
The former Deputy Speaker also castigated Peoples Democratic Party for providing a platform to corrupt elements, saying this speaks how desperate they are for power. “The PDP has been employing all tactics ever since its inception to remain glued to power”, he said adding that times have gone when they used to bank upon their mentors in New Delhi to mastermind intrigues in Jammu and Kashmir. “Now power rests with people who have decided to teach PDP and other opposition parties a befitting lesson”, he said and hoped that National Conference will again get the trust of voters in the ensuing elections.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sajjad Shaheen spelt out the initiatives taken by Omar led government during nearly past six years in steering the state to peace, progress and development. He said each sector of development has witnessed a discernible change, which he hoped would be carried forward with the massive mandate of the people in next six years as well.
Mr Shaheen cautioned the people against machinations of divisive elements and said that National Conference has been a binding force, which believes in togetherness of the people of all communities and regions. He exuded confidence about his party registering a comfortable win to form a strong and stable government.
