Several NC, Cong workers join BJP at Bhour Camp
Khajuria vows to continue struggle for cause of POJK refugees

Jammu, August 20, (Scoop News)- Impressed with the efforts initiated by the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) for the rights of refugee community under the ace leadership of dedicated Refugee Leader Pt. Ashok Kumar Khajuria, Additional Press Secretary and Prabhari BJP Sharnarthi Cell Jammu and Kashmir, dozens of prominent NC-Congress workers from the refugee community headed by Pushkar Kumar Sharma Joined BJP in a well attended public meeting at Model Village Bhour Camp.
The meeting was presided over by the prominent party leaders including Aseem Gupta, Publicity Secretary; Bharat Sharma, Secretary (District); Satpal Choudhary- Block president (Satwari); Pitambar Sharma, Block General Secretary; Ashok Ranyal, secretary Bhour Camp (W); and Ashok Saras - secretary Bhour Camp (E).
Pt. Khajuria welcomed the new entrants’ whole heartedly appealed them to keep the mood upbeat in this fight for the rights of the POJK community.
On the occasion, new entrants’ said that mentioning of the miseries of refugee community himself by the Prime Minister has rekindled a ray of hope among POJK refugees, who have been struggling since 1947 to get their basic fundamental rights.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a rally after inaugurating the Chutak hydroelectric project at Kargil on Tuesday August 12, had promised to solve problems of all displaced persons of Jammu and Kashmir, including West Pakistani refugees.
“Prime Minister Modi’s statement is significant in the sense that first time a Prime Minister has publicly mentioned miseries of refugees community,” said Pushkar Kumar Sharma.
“This statement signifies importance because the Prime Minister is aware of the woes of helpless refugees who are deprived of their basic fundamental rights by the successive state and Central governments,” he said.
Khajuria said that for decades the refugee community has been the victim of vote bank politics being practiced by the National Conference and Congress party. He equivocally said that fight for the rights of the POJK refugees until the state government concedes the elongated pending demands of the oppressed community.
Aseem Gupta, in his address, said that Prime ministers’ predecessors had succumbed to fundamentalist forces in the Valley due to which the migrant community’s fate is hanging in balance as no decision pertaining to the interests of refugee Community has been taken so far.
The West Pakistani refugees have been struggling to get citizenship rights since 1947. Despite regular assurances by UPA government to solve their problems, the Congress could not take any decision due to opposition by Kashmir-centric mainstream parties and separatist groups, who opposed granting fundamental rights to these “stateless” refugees. Prominent among those joined were included S. Harpreet Singh, Ashok Kumar, Dheeraj Sharma, S. Tarlochan Singh, Sonu Kumar besides others.
