Governor visits Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas to review arrangements
Jammu, April 18, (Scoop News)- N. N. Vohra, Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Amaranathji Shrine Board, visited Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar today to meet all concerned officers and for reviewing the arrangements being made for the pilgrims for this year’s Shri Amarnathji Yatra. As earlier notified the Yatra will commence simultaneously, on both the Baltal and Chandanwari routes, from 28th June, 2014.
Addressing a meeting of the officers in the Yatri Niwas, the Governor reviewed arrangements related to reception of Yatris at the Railway Station and Bus Stand and the registration of those without Yatra Permits and the requirements of accommodation, catering, hygiene, sanitation, etc. He also directed the district authorities to ensure satisfactory arrangements in regard to water, power supply, garbage disposal, medicare, transport, etc for the Pilgrims.
The Governor reiterated the high importance of ensuring against any unregistered pilgrims being allowed to proceed to the Valley and directed the officers to ensure provision of registration counters at Saraswati Dham and Jammu Haat. He also directed that dedicated transport arrangements should be arranged for ferrying the unregistered Yatris from Railway Station, and Bus Stand, directly to the Registration Centres and not allow them to come to the Yatri Niwas unless they were registered. For the facilitation of Yatris, the Governor desired that pamphlets containing complete guidance and information about available facilities, routes, distances etc should be got printed and distributed among the arriving Yatris, from Lakhanpur Post onwards.
The Governor also reviewed the enroute wayside transit facilities for the Yatris, including Langars and lodging arrangements, registration of Sadhus at Ram Mandir and their accommodation at Geeta Bhavan, Jammu. The Governor directed the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, to ensure provision of adequate arrangements for the Yatris at all the transit camps to take care of both the normal as well as emergency requirements.
The Governor asked the Inspector General Police( Jammu Division) to effectively ensure the regulation of the Yatris for ensuring the smooth conduct of the Yatra and asked the CEO, SASB, to urgently ensure nationwide publicity of the Yatra related Dos and Don’ts and Advisories through the print and electronic media.
The Governor had a round of the Yatri Niwas complex and inspected the facilities available there. He was accompanied by Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Governor and the Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board; Mr Shantmanu, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; Zaffar Ahmad, Secretary, Tourism; Rajesh Gupta, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone; Soujanya Sharma, Director Tourism, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu; Atul Goel, SSP, Jammu and other concerned senior officers. ...
