Bhim Singh files nomination from Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency

Jammu, March 24, (Scoop News)- Prof. Bhim Singh, Founder & Chief Patron of National Panthers Party filed his nomination paper from Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency (J&K) before the Returning Officer in the presence of all legislators of the party at the office of Dy. Commissioner, Kathua, only 10 kms. away from the boundaries of Punjab.
Prof. Bhim Singh is a senior advocate and a Barrister-at-Law in the Supreme Court of India, an elected Sr. Executive Member of the Supreme Court Bar Association, the prolific writer, noted journalist and superb orator who comes from a farmer’s family in village Bhugterian of Udhampur District, J&K. He is son of ex-serviceman who served in INA also. He is the only man in the world who crossed Western Sahara (2100 kms.) on motorcycle from Morocco to Senegal in 1971 and the only Indian to travel 150 countries in the world on two-wheels. During his travels he post-graduated in Law (LL.M) from London University with distinction. Studied in Cairo University, Aligarh Muslim University, London University and Beirut. He was named by President Saddam Hussein to plead his case while US blocked his way to visit Iraq. He was a great friend Palestinian President, Yasir Arafat and Libyan leader Col. Gaddafi. He also went to the Hague to plead for President Mr. Slobodan Milosevic before the UN International Criminal Court. Prof. Bhim Singh is recognized as a unique civil rights lawyer in the world.
Prof. Bhim Singh was accompanied M/s. Syed Mohd. Rafiq Shah, Harsh Dev Singh, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Yashpaul Kundal and others.
This is seventh attempt of Prof. Bhim Singh to enter Lok Sabha. He contested in 1977 as independent candidate from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency, in 1982 from Amethi (U.P.) Parliamentary Constituency against late Shri Rajiv Gandhi and again he contested in 1983 from Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency. He won the bye-election to the Lok Sabha from Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency in 1988 yet the Election Commission declared Congress candidate as victor. He was only person in the history that the entire country stood like a wall against the decision of the Election Commission of India. M/s. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, NT Ramarao, Ram Jethmalani, H.N. Bahuguna, Vijay Kumar Malhotra and several others prominent national leaders joined him in hunger strike in front of Election Commission’s office, Nirvachan Sadan, New Delhi against the illegal and authoritarian decision.
It was Justice K.K. Gupta, Judge of J&K High Court who accepted the Election Petition of Prof. Bhim Singh challenging the election of Shri Ayyub Khan. J&K High Court quashed the order of the Returning Officer but he could not give any relief to Prof.Bhim Singh because the Lok Sabha in question was dissolved before the day of judgment.
Prof. Bhim Singh contested election from Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency in 2009 from the same constituency but lost to the Congress candidate. Prof.Bhim Singh also contested Lok Sabha election from New Delhi Parliamentary Constituency but lost badly. The opposite candidates were Shri L.K. Advani and Shri Rajesh Khanna.
Prof. Bhim Singh shall be facing the Union Health Minister, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress and unknown Modi-ite candidate of BJP among others.
Earlier Prof. Bhim Singh was given rousing welcome by Panthers Party activists in Kathua who took him in a procession with beating of drums to the Office of the Returning Officer.
Talking to the media Prof. Bhim Singh proclaimed that he shall make it to the Parliament after three decades struggle as his main opposition candidates of the Congress or BJP do not enjoy public acceptability or credibility.
