Gandhians Parikrama around country for peace reached Kerala

Kerala, July 6 (Scoop News)-Gandhians parikrama around country for peace, harmony, integration and creating of awareness against social evils led Padmasri S.P.Varma, Vice President of Gandhi Global Family (GGF) has reached Thiruvananthapuram yesterday.
He along with delegates from other parts of the country which includes S.S.Balakrishnan Nair, Member of the National Executive Committee, Dr.Murali Darshan, Chairman of the HRD Committee and Dr.K.S.Mathew, Co-Ordinator of Kerala State of the GGF paid floral tributes to the Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi, at Gandhi Park, East Fort, Thiruvananthapuram. While talking to Media persons, Varma disclosed that, this unique programme of parikrama was designed under the able guidance of the GGF President Sri.Gulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare who joined Gandhian movement during 1969 as College student, which was flagged off from Kanyakumari on 17th October 2010 to spread the message of Mahatma Gandhi amongst the general masses. Passed through the South Eastern States of the country, entered the turmoiled State of Jammu and Kashmir, from where following the States of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and part of Kerala again reached Kanyakumari in the first phase. The second phase was flagged off from Hyderabad passing through Orissa and West Bengal entered the Gate Way of North Eastern States at Gauhati from where passed through Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

During the third phase, the GGF delegation visited the islands of Andamans & Nicobar. The current fourth phase which commenced today from Thiruvananthapuram shall reach Lakshadweep islands enroute Cochin. He was hopeful that during the fifth and final phase the remaining left out parts of the country which includes Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Goa, Daman Dieu and Nagarhaveli and Pondicherry shall be covered this year to accomplish the task in about three years and finally shall reach Rajghat in New Delhi to pay Floral tributes to the Father of Nation.

He also appealed to the general public to follow the footsteps of the Father of Nation for Peace, Progress and Prosperity of the individuals and country as a whole. Further he elaborated in his address extolled the greatness of Mahatma Gandhi as a global inspiration who practiced simplicity, humility and non-violence. He said leaders in this county, as elsewhere in the world, could emulate Mahatma Gandhi’s life and teachings for enhancing peace in the strife-torn world which is prerequisite in today’s World.
