| Government should consider demands of employees serving in Ladakh region: Raza | |
Kargil, June 12 (Scoop News)- Former M.L.A Zanskar and President,District Congress Committee,Kargil Ghulam Raza today demanded to release Special Duty Allowance @ 12.5% in favor of the state Government employees of Ladakh region as is being given to the Central Government employees serving in Ladakh region. In a statement Ghulam Raza said that besides this allowance the central Government employees are being paid Remote Locality Allowance @ Rs. 2000/- Per month. There is a huge difference between the salaries of the centre and state government employees in Ladakh region having equal job responsibilities, which has brought down the morale of the state government employees as the government through a letter from Ladakh affairs department has almost denied the release of Special Duty Allowance with the plea that the employees in Ladakh region are being paid Compensatory allowance and which has been enhanced in 2012.
He said that even after recent enhancement the Compensatory allowance being paid to the employees becomes less than 3% while as the Central Government employees are already getting Special Duty Allowance @ 12.5% besides remote locality allowance of Rs. 2000/- per month. There is a huge disparity in allowances of state and central government employees and due to the reason the officers/officials posted in Ladakh region manage cozy postings as they are not ready to serve in such a difficult terrain where the salaries instead of enhancement get reduced as compared to cities of Jammu and Srianagar. This has also effected the developmental fields in the district as most of the posts of doctors , Lecturers, Professors and other key posts remain vacant due to non posting of employees against them. He said the demand of government employee are genuine and plea to the government that the Compensatory allowance being paid to the employees may be converted into percentage system as was in vogue before 1987 and should bring it at par to the Special Duty Allowance being paid to central government employees so that no disparity of allowances remains between state and central government employees sailing in the same boat. ... |
