Earthquake hit families forced to live under open sky: BJP

Jammu, May 25 (Scoop News) –Even after so many weeks of the first earthquake incident in many parts of erstwhile Doda district in Jammu division, the government has failed to provide any relief as a result of which thousands of affected families are passing sleepless nights under open sky in fields. This was stated by BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma while addressing a press conference at party headquarters on Saturday along-with National Executive Member & Leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria (MLA), Sham Choudhary MLA and Sukhnandan Kumar MLA.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that natural calamity of earthquake shook many areas of Doda, Bhaderwah and Kishtwar districts last month and thereafter repeated incidents of similar gravity took place which badly caused severe damage to thousands of houses in different parts of earstwhile Doda. While a large number of such houses got totally damaged, the number of houses which got cracks is also in thousands. He said these earthquakes have left thousands of families shelterless, who are now living in fields under open skies. Although, the Union Health Minister and a number of Ministers and MLAs of J&K’s coaltion government undertook aerial visits, made pleasing announcements, assured of every possible help but unfortunately the affected families are still awaiting even ration and tents.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, who alongwith other three MLAs visited the earh-quake hit areas and interacted with the affected families, said that just 2 tents per panchayat have been sent while the estimated number of affected families is 80,000. The tents issued to panchayats are also issued to the workers of NC and Congress, who get the same on slips of Ministers and MlLAs. He said that even the local administration has no reply for not paying attention to the sufferings of the helpless families.
Demanding immediate relief to the affected families, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the government should clarify what package it has announced and not befool the people on mere slogans and false promises.
