J&K receives 1699 additional seats for Haj-2013: Peerzada
Jammu, May 11 (Scoop News) –The State has received an additional Haj quota of 1699 seats from the Haj Committee of India raising the total number of Haj seats to 8819 for the Haj-2013.
This was stated by the Minister for Haj and Auqaf Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed here today.
Expressing his gratitude to Union Government, on behalf of the State Government, for enhancing the Haj quota for the state, the Minister said that quota allotted to the state will enable the State government to accommodate more Haj aspirants.
Peerzada said that this year the State Haj Committee has received 21693 applications from the aspirants. He said out of total 7120 allotted seats, 1991 seats were allotted to reserve category A above the age group of 70, 2512 seats to reserve category B (4th Timer), while as 2617 seats were allotted through Qurrah.
The Minister said 14573 applications were put in waiting list. He said with an additional quota of 1699, the applicants from serial number 1 to 1699 under general waiting list have been declared as provisionally selected for Haj pilgrimage.
The concerned applicants are hereby informed to contact immediately their respective Deputy Commissioners and deposit the first instalment of Haj dues amounting to Rs. 76,000 by or before May 31, 2013. The pilgrims can download the Pay-in-slips from the official website of Haj Committee of India www.hajcommittee.com or J&K Haj Committee website www.jkshc.com.
