| JKJPA hails the ban of private practice of HODs | | Srinagar, January 24(Scoop News) –Jammu & Kashmir Junior Physicians’ Association (JKJPA ) today welcomes the ban of private practice of HODs in Medical colleges and feels its extension to their whole faculty which will inturn improve the patient care, teaching & research in these medical colleges.
Today in a meeting of executive council of Jammu & Kashmir Junior Physicians’ Association was held here under the chairmanship of its President Dr. Syed Sajjad Hussain where in doctors felicitated Minister of Health Shabir Ahmad Khan and Minister of Medical Education , Taj Mohiuddin.
Dr. Mehboob ul Hassan,Publicity Secretary JKJPA in a statement said that Association hopes that the two ministers will work in unison for improving the overall health scenario of J&K state. JKJPA also welcomes the historic Government decision to set up offices in the premier hospitals where the concerned minister would sit on regular basis to encourage our faculty for their dedication, sincerity and hardwork.
Statement said that Tertiary care Hospitals cannot be run by students but they are to be run by the faculties who have to be full time available for these Medical College Associated Hospitals. It is unfortunate that some people are justifying it only to gain personal interests and thereby portraying the wrong image of doctors and medical profession at large.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Syed Sajjad President JKJPA said that the Medical profession is not all about the money but is worship and has to be executed in practical field of life. Ours is a very poor community and they repose trust & faith in doctors. They drop into the government tertiary Hospitals with a hope that they will get quality care but unfortunately leave these hospitals in despair and disappointment when because of procedural delays just getting dates of their required surgeries after one or two years with the result forcing a poor patient to go to the private sector even if he cannot afford it. Medical faculty has a huge responsibility of patient care, producing good doctors and above all research. They have to emerge as role models. Dr. Syed Sajjad has appealed to all the doctors of our state to work with missionary zeal & enthusiasm and support the endeavor of govt. in letter & spirit. Speaking on the occasion JKJPA Provincial Secretary Jammu Dr. Meena Kumari said that it is not the voice of doctors from a particular region but the voice of our fraternity from all over the State.
JKJPA pledges to work in unison with other Associations of Doctors in J&K State for creating a comprehensive health care policy of our state in the interest of patient care. For safeguarding the profession & doctors and above all for quality patient care we support and welcome the stand of Dr. Nisar-ul-Hassan, DAK President for banning of private practice of faculty in medical colleges of our state.
JKJPA in a statement urge government to give incentives to the medical faculty of medical colleges and all the doctors of health who work round the clock and on holidays & Sundays and implement the MCI guidelines in letter and spirit, pay to in-service PGs, stipend increase of non PSC PGs, two & half days Salary, rural allowance etc. We demand a genuine preference & reward to those doctors whose services have been regularized after a decade or more for their dedication and sincerity, who have not opted for the luxuries & huge salaries of Gulf & Europe but inspite served the suffering population of their state for years in those turbulent conditions than those who were in green pastures and have been reappointed or continued after Dies-non. On 04-09-2012 during a meeting in CM’s Private Office Srinagar, Chief Minister had also given an assurance to the delegation of Jammu & Kashmir Junior Physicians Association for the earliest redressal of our genuine demands. We hope that both the Ministers of Health & Medical education will show positive attitude towards this vital sector in collaboration with the Associations of Doctors and try to remove the unnecessary hurdles that are created by some vested interests, so that our fraternity is given a smooth field to serve better and for the medical upliftment of the society & will come up to the expectations of doctors by redressing their long pending demands & people by creating a comprehensive health policy in the state.
