| AIDS awareness organized at Sub-Jail Reasi | | UDHAMPUR/Jammu, May 18 (Scoop News) – The J&K State AIDS Prevention & Control Society (JKSACS) organized an AIDS awareness programme in Sub-Jail Reasi for the jail inmates.
The programme began with an introduction from the Superintendent of Jail, Mrs. Subash Kumari who briefed the jail inmates about the importance of holding such programme.
The programme was attended by JKSACS officers/officials included Dy. Director (BS), Dy. Director (IEC) and other dignitaries included Session Judge Reasi, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Reasi and Dy. Chief Medical Officer, Reasi.
A documentary by JKSACS “Combating Aids in J&K” was screened for the jail inmates to make them aware about the dreaded disease. The documentary focused on different components of National AIDS Control programme being implemented by JKSACS.
In his message in the documentary, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma stressed the importance for combating AIDS in J&K and also highlighted the need to face the challenge posed by this global threat. He appealed all to join hands to fight with this killer ailment.
Project Director, JKSACS, Dr. Rakesh Khajuria highlighted different modes of transmission of HIV AIDS besides telling the gathering about the preventive measures. He cleared the doubts regarding myths connected with the disease in the society.
After the screening of the documentary, Dy. Director (IEC), JKSACS, Mrs. Deepika. B. Thakur interacted with the jail inmates highlighted the role of IEC in combating AIDS.
Vote of thanks was presented by Superintendent of Jail.
