| National Voters Day observed in Kulgam | |
Kulgam,January 25 (Scoop News) – A colorful function was organized at Town Hall Kulgam to celebrate National Voters Day. Besides prominent citizens Panchs and Sarpanchs hundreds of youngsters who have been registered as new voters participated in the function amid jubilation and enthusiasm.
District Election Officer Farooq Ahmad Khan was the Chief Guest at the function, which was also attended by Addl. District Development Commissioner M.Y. Zargar and Assistant Commissioner Revenue G. H. Sheikh besides several Sectoral and Booth Level Officers.
In his speech, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of vote in the promotion of liberal democratic system in the country like ours. He felicitated the newly registered voters and said that with their registration they stand empowered for right to vote and elect representatives of their choice.
The Addl. District Development Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner Revenue also spoke on the occasion, highlighting the constitutional significance of vote in strengthening democratic set up in the state and the country at large.
Later, Khan handed over EPICs to the newly registered voters. He said all the 9977 newly elected voters of the district will be given EPICs in the next few days.
