Every year, the Republic Day celebration programs remain a matter of serious concern for the government and the security agencies across the country but last year it was quite tough time for the government of India and the State administration, though there was no such threat call from the terrorist groups but last year the Bhartiya Janta party’s Yuva Morcha had given a call for its so called Ekta, Tiranga yatra which included program of hoisting flag from Kolkata to Kashmir, not even a single state government objected to this proposed yatra of the Bhartiya Janta.

It was only the Jammu and Kashmir government that not only criticized the BJP for its yatra and called it a conspiracy to sabotage peace atmosphere of the state which had already seen 3 consecutive summer unrests in the valley but it also pushed backed BJP’s top leaders to the neighbouring state, Punjab. Everyone might be remembering that the BJP leaders had have made unfurling of Tiranga at Lal Chowk, Srinagar an issue of their ego. They orchestrated so loudly to denounce the decision of the state government not to allow them to enter into valley on the argument of law and order issue. Obviously Bhartiya Janta Party leaders are/were right that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and every Indian has the right to unfurl national flag the place where he wants, but not at the cost of security and peace of others. The clock continued ticking and now again the republic day is just a week away.

But this time the entire state and especially the valley is under the thick blanket of snow, the people of the state are feeling the ruthless behavior of the nature. The 300 Km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained closed for weeks together hundreds of vehicles stranded on the road, thousands of travelers are caught in between the passenger vehicles and at Bus Stands but this time not even a whisper of nationalism and patriotism from the Bhartiya Janta Party Leaders, perhaps their patriotism and so called nationalism is confined to just seek media attention and crate an atmosphere where they can have political mileage.

I am sure if this year the Youth leader of BJP, Anurag Thakur had have given a call to Kashmir Chalo to help Kashmiris in this natural calamity then no one might have opposed them including their durable opponent Congress. Even the separatists have showered all the praises for them, the state government would have allowed them to go to even deeper to the remote villages of snow bound Kupwra and Baramulla. The BJP is keeping its breathe-in and not uttering any word. Of course not this year, their love for the valley deepens when their leader decides but since its severe cold in valley so they have left it they also know that they might not get the attention. They want fullest attention of the media. I remember last year, top leaders of BJP including honourable leader of opposition in Lok Sabha and in Rajya Sabha and some other senior leader of the party castigated the decision of the Omar government not to allow them to go to Lal Chowk. That time also the Bhartiya Janta Party played its old record of revocation of article 370, but let me remind them that article 370 of the constitution do not stop them from entering into the state with a helping hand for the people of the state. Let this time the BJP youth cadre go to valley with relief material for their own brothers, help the state government and administration in snow clearance, this will deepen the nationalism there. Mere unfurling of Tiranga at any place may not do the charisma which can be obviously done with a lending hand.
