| Draw of Lots for Rotation of Women-Reserved Constituencies in LAHDC Zanskar Held | |
Zanskar, November 06 (Scoop News)-The Office of the District Election Officer, Zanskar, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Zanskar, Sh. Omkar Rajendra Gundage (IAS), conducted the Draw of Lots for the rotation of constituencies to be reserved for women in the upcoming General Elections to the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Zanskar, today at Government Degree College (GDC), Zanskar.
The draw was conducted in pursuance of Rule 3(6) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils (Election) Rules, 2026, and in compliance with the directions of the State Election Commission, UT Ladakh.
The exercise aimed to ensure a fair, transparent and impartial process for the rotation of constituencies reserved for women in LAHDC Zanskar. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Zanskar, Principal, Government Degree College, Zanskar, along with other public representatives and stakeholders, attended the proceedings.
As per the outcome of the draw, Raru-4, Phay-8 and Cha-5 constituencies have been selected for reservation for women. Accordingly, one-third of the total nine constituencies in LAHDC Zanskar will be reserved for women in the upcoming elections.
The outcome of the draw was formally recorded and will be submitted to the State Election Commission, UT Ladakh, for further necessary action in accordance with the applicable rules.
The exercise marks an important step in the electoral process, ensuring transparency and adherence to the prescribed provisions governing women's reservation in the upcoming LAHDC elections.
