| CUKashmir’ Deptt of Law holds lecture on ‘civil services unplugged’ | |
Ganderbal, September 29 (Scoop News)-Department of Law, School of Legal Studies (SLS), Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), organised an online extension lecture on “Civil Services Unplugged: Challenges and Opportunities” here Monday.
The lecture was delivered by Shri Prince Kumar, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Uri, who interacted with the students and provided valuable insights into the Civil Services Examination and the journey towards becoming a civil servant.
In his welcome address, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Head and Dean, SLS, highlighted the importance of the UPSC Civil Services Examination and its significant role in providing young aspirants with an opportunity to contribute to public administration and nation-building. He advised the students to start their preparation from the beginning of their academic journey, develop a habit of regular reading, and work hard with consistency and determination.
Delivering the keynote address, Shri Prince Kumar, IAS, SDM Uri, provided students with a comprehensive and practical understanding of the Civil Services Examination. He discussed various aspects of the examination, including its structure, stages of selection, preparation strategy and the qualities required to successfully navigate the examination process. He shared useful tips from the perspective of a civil servant and explained how aspirants can plan their preparation in a structured and realistic manner. He stressed the importance of understanding the syllabus and previous years' question papers, developing conceptual clarity, maintaining consistency, reading newspapers and standard study material, and regularly revising the subjects. Shri Kumar also discussed the challenges faced by aspirants, including the vast syllabus, intense competition, the need for sustained motivation, effective time management and the importance of maintaining consistency during preparation. The lecture was followed by an interactive session.
Earlier, in his speech, event Coordinator, Mr. Bilal Ahmed Ganai, Sr Asst Prof Deptt of Law, emphasized that a clear understanding of the examination pattern, syllabus, current affairs and effective preparation strategies can help aspirants approach the examination in a systematic manner. He outlined the significance of organising such lectures for providing students with direct interaction with experienced officers and professionals.
