| Administrative Secretary H&UDD Visits Government Degree College Kargil | |
Kargil, September 23 (Scoop News)-Administrative Secretary, Housing & Urban Development and Transport Department, UT Ladakh, Shri Arava Gopi Krishna, IAS, today visited Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil and interacted with students and faculty members.
Principal GDC Kargil, Dr Amjad Ali Abbasi, along with faculty members, received Shri Gopi Krishna at the college main gate with traditional khataq. NCC cadets escorted the visiting dignitary to the Principal’s office, where the Principal gave a detailed overview of the college’s academic activities, infrastructure and ongoing developmental initiatives.
During the visit, Shri Gopi Krishna inspected model exhibition stalls set up by various departments of the college. He appreciated the students for their innovative presentations and the models and scientific apparatus displayed at the stalls.
The Administrative Secretary also visited the college’s skill centres, including Traditional Hand Embroidery, Graphic Design, Beauty Therapy, Yoga, and Housekeeping & Guest Service Associate. He appreciated the college administration for effectively conducting sector-specific skill courses alongside regular academic programmes, providing students with opportunities to develop practical and employable skills.
Later, Shri Gopi Krishna addressed a gathering of students and faculty members at the college seminar hall. An NSS team presented a welcome song before the address.
In his interaction with the students, Shri Gopi Krishna emphasised the importance of meditation and mindfulness in managing negative thoughts, improving concentration and maintaining focus in studies. He encouraged students to develop positive habits and remain committed to their academic and personal growth.
The programme was followed by an interactive session during which students raised questions about the IAS journey, motivation, overcoming distractions and maintaining focus on studies. Shri Gopi Krishna and the Principal shared their experiences and insights while responding to the queries.
The Principal presented a souvenir to the visiting dignitary as a mark of appreciation. Mr Nasir Ud Din Khafee, Assistant Professor of English, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the college, while Khusnood Banoo, 5th-semester student, conducted the proceedings.
