| Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s Legacy Comes Alive Through Animated Poetry; | |
Jammu, September 22 (Scoop News)-: A vibrant cultural and educational programme celebrating the history, heritage and Dogri language of Jammu was organised at Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Jammu, under the initiative of Activity In-charge Mrs. Sugandhi, in the presence of Principal Shri Vivek Chauhan, Vice-Principal Smt. Shruti Chauhan, Administrator Smt. Neera Dogra and Atharav Chauhan.
The programme was graced by Heena Mahajan, Founder of Jammu Di Chidi, writer and poet, Business Head at ATC and Co-Convenor of Duggar Baradari Team. The event brought together young students through an engaging blend of animation, poetry, literature, history and cultural storytelling.
The main highlight of the programme was the visual launch of a special animated poetry presentation on Maharaja Hari Singh Ji, organised on the eve of his birth anniversary, which falls on September 23. Through colourful animation, poetry and storytelling, the students were introduced to the life, contribution and legacy of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji, while highlighting the importance of preserving Jammu’s historical memory and cultural identity.
Alongside the animated poetry visual launch, a special comic book launch was also held, bringing stories of Jammu’s legendary personalities and heritage closer to young readers. The initiative is aimed at presenting history in a creative, accessible and child-friendly format.
During the programme, Heena Mahajan also launched her publications “Zorawar Singh – The Lion of the Himalayas” and “The Legend of Jammu Local.” The publications form part of her larger effort to connect children with Jammu’s remarkable personalities, local stories and cultural heritage.
A special presentation of the animated Dogri series “Jammu Di Chidi” was also screened for the students. The series uses animation, poetry and storytelling to make Dogri language, Jammu’s history, traditions and heritage engaging and relatable for young minds.
The programme was attended by Principal Shri Vivek Chauhan, Vice-Principal Smt. Shruti Chauhan, Administrator Smt. Neera Dogra and Atharav Chauhan, along with enthusiastic students of Classes I, II and III.
Adding a special dimension to the occasion, nearly 80 comic books were gifted to the participating students. The gesture was made especially to mark the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji and to encourage children to read, explore local history and discover the remarkable personalities and stories associated with Jammu and Dogra heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Heena Mahajan said that Jammu Di Chidi was conceived with the purpose of taking Jammu’s language, history and cultural heritage to children through creative and contemporary mediums such as animation, poetry, comics and storytelling.
She emphasised that children should encounter the stories of Jammu’s great personalities from an early age, as familiarity with one’s history and heritage helps nurture a meaningful connection with one’s cultural roots.
The school authorities appreciated the initiative and expressed their gratitude to Heena Mahajan for bringing an innovative, engaging and culturally enriching presentation to the students. The young audience responded enthusiastically to the animated presentation, comic books and stories connected with Jammu’s illustrious heritage.
The programme concluded with a message encouraging the young generation to learn, cherish, preserve and proudly carry forward the rich cultural legacy of Jammu and Dogra heritage.
