| National Workshop on MSME schemes, public procurement and export promotion held in Leh | |
Leh, September 15 (Scoop News)-A one-day National-Level Workshop on Public Procurement Policy and Vendor Registration, Export Promotion, Quality Certification and GeM Onboarding was organised today at the LAHDC Leh Conference Hall.
The workshop was organised by the MSME Development & Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO), Jammu, under the aegis of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. Representatives from various organisations, including NSIC, BIS, QCI, KVIC, DGFT, POWERGRID, GeM and IIP, participated in the workshop.
Administrative Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, UT Ladakh, Himanshu Gupta, presided over the inaugural session as the Chief Guest. Director, Industries & Commerce, Sonam Norboo, and Director, Planning, Tsewang Gyalson, attended the session as Guests of Honour.
At the outset, Joint Director, MSME-DFO, Jammu, Amit Kumar Tamaria, welcomed the dignitaries, stakeholders and participants. He outlined the objectives of the workshop and provided an overview of the various schemes, programmes and initiatives being implemented for the benefit of MSMEs.
He highlighted that MSMEs are an engine of growth and an important backbone of the economy. He stated that the sector has a crucial role to play in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also sensitised the participants about the importance of Udyam Registration for availing benefits under various MSME schemes.
Addressing the participants, Administrative Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Himanshu Gupta, highlighted various MSME schemes, including the Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme, PMEGP and other initiatives aimed at supporting entrepreneurs. He said that PMEGP is a popular scheme and a significant number of entrepreneurs have benefited from it. He further informed that the UT Administration is also exploring the introduction of a credit scheme to provide financial support to aspiring entrepreneurs.
Speaking on the occasion, Director, Industries & Commerce, Sonam Norboo, advised the participants to go through the booklet distributed during the workshop to understand various MSME schemes and identify those suitable to their requirements. He also encouraged entrepreneurs to regularly access the official online portals of the MSME Ministry to remain updated about various schemes and programmes.
Director, Planning, Tsewang Gyalson, stressed the importance of utilising locally available resources for producing goods within Ladakh. He urged local entrepreneurs to explore national and international markets and promote the export of locally produced goods and products beyond the local market.
The technical sessions commenced with a presentation on various schemes of the Ministry of MSME by Amit Kumar Tamaria, Joint Director, MSME-DFO, Jammu. Mohammad Maqbul Shah, Senior Consultant, GeM, J&K and Ladakh, delivered a presentation on the Public Procurement Policy and the process of vendor registration on GeM. Himanshu Vashishtha, Deputy General Manager, NSIC, also made a presentation on Public Procurement Policy and Vendor Registration.
Avijat Paul, Senior Scientist, BIS, delivered a presentation on BIS Certification, while Manjeet Bhatoya, Joint Director, DGFT, spoke on Export Promotion. Arif Ahmad, Consultant, QCI, made a presentation on Zero Defect, Zero Effect (ZED), Quality Control Orders and Public Procurement Policy. A presentation on Packaging was delivered by Dr. Tanvir Amin, Additional Director, IIP, New Delhi.
Deraj Verma, DGM, SIDBI, briefed the participants about various SIDBI schemes. Rajesh Kumar, Director, KVIC, delivered a presentation on credit-linked financing through the PMEGP portal, value addition, and infrastructure upgradation for pashmina, apricot and seabuckthorn. Parvinder Malik, DGM, POWERGRID, made a presentation on Public Procurement Policy and Vendor Registration.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks given by Vinu Jee Kaul, Assistant Director, MSME-DFO, Jammu.
The workshop was attended by a large number of entrepreneurs, artisans, and officers and officials of the Industries & Commerce Department, who actively participated in the sessions and interacted with the experts on various aspects of MSME development, procurement, certification, financing and export promotion.
