| 59th Engineers’ Day celebrations held at Srinagar; IEI Ghar inaugurated | | 
Srinagar, September 15 (Scoop News)- The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu & Kashmir State Centre (IEI-JKSC), in collaboration with the J&K Coordination Committee of Engineering Graduates Associations, organized the 59th Engineers’ Day celebrations in Srinagar on the theme “Engineering Excellence for a Sustainable and Technologically Sovereign India.”
The programme brought together members of the engineering fraternity to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and highlight the vital role of engineering in sustainable development, technological advancement and nation building.
A major highlight of the programme was the inauguration of IEI Ghar, the newly established guest house of IEI-JKSC, by Jenab Omar Abdullah, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Jammu & Kashmir in presence of Jenab Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K, Jenab Ahsan Ahmad Pardesi, MLA Lal Chowk, Jenab Fazl Ul Haseeb, IAS, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, etc. The inauguration marked an important milestone for IEI-JKSC and is expected to further strengthen the Centre’s facilities for professional activities and engagement of the engineering fraternity.
The Engineers’ Day celebrations commenced with a formal introduction by Er. Irfan Ahmad Reshi, MIE, Honorary Secretary, IEI-JKSC, followed by the welcome address by Er. Ferdous Ahad Bhat, FIE, Chairman, IEI-JKSC. In his address, the Chairman highlighted the enduring contributions of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya and the importance of engineering excellence, innovation and professional responsibility in addressing emerging developmental challenges.
Er. Farooq Ahmad Ganaie, President, JKCEGA, also addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of strengthening the engineering profession and ensuring greater collaboration among engineering organizations and professionals. The Chairman, IEI-JKSC, and the President, JKCEGA, strongly urged the Government to consider and implement Assured Career Progression (ACP) for engineers serving across Jammu & Kashmir, underscoring the need for structured career advancement and professional growth within the engineering fraternity. Er. Nasir Amin, Executive Engineer also highlighted the role or engineers in development of J&K and issues being faced by them. The Chief Guest for the 59th Engineers’ Day celebrations, Jenab Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K, addressed the gathering and spoke on the significance of engineering in supporting sustainable development, technological advancement and the future growth of Jammu & Kashmir. The Guest of Honour Jenab Ahsan Ahmad Pardesi, MLA, Lal Chowk also appreciated the role of Engineers in National Building.
The occasion also witnessed the presentation of Engineering Excellence Awards, recognizing and felicitating distinguished contributions in the field of engineering.
A technical session was subsequently held featuring presentations by Er. Aadil Hassan, Er. Peerzada Owais, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Mir and Er. Bashir Ahmad Dar. The session provided a platform for sharing technical knowledge, professional perspectives and contemporary developments relevant to the engineering sector. The event was attended by Chief Engineers, members of the Executive Committee, senior engineers and retired engineers, reflecting the participation of the wider engineering fraternity
