  CEC Kargil Inaugurates Barburchey View Point at Sankoo
Calls for Tourism-Led Development

Kargil, July 01 (Scoop News)- Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today inaugurated the newly developed Barburchey View Point at Sankoo in the presence of Councillor Sankoo Syed Ahmad Razvi, former MLA Syed Baqir, officials from the Tourism Department, officials of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate's Office, religious leaders, and a large gathering of local residents.

The inauguration marked a significant milestone in promoting Sankoo as a major tourist destination in Kargil district. The gathering highly appreciated the initiative of local youth Zakir Parwana, whose vision and dedicated efforts led to the development of the scenic viewpoint.

Addressing the gathering, CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon congratulated Zakir Parwana for his commendable initiative and stated that the Tourism Department is working to increase the average stay of tourists in Kargil from three to six days, thereby creating greater livelihood opportunities for unemployed youth. He emphasized the need to promote pilgrimage tourism, cultural tourism, and the rich heritage of Sankoo, describing the Barburchey View Point as the beginning of a broader vision to showcase the region's immense tourism potential.

Dr. Akhoon also stressed the importance of quality education, urging parents to prioritize their children's education as the foundation for the district's long-term development. He informed the gathering that the administration is actively promoting Kargil's unique culture and traditions as an integral component of tourism development.

Highlighting various government initiatives, the CEC spoke about upcoming subsidy schemes and the new industrial policy, encouraging young entrepreneurs and the general public to take full advantage of these opportunities. He assured the LAHDC Kargil full support for initiatives that promote tourism, entrepreneurship, and local employment.

Referring to ongoing developmental projects, Dr. Akhoon highlighted efforts to promote both winter and summer sports, via development of sports infrastructure, including an AstroTurf ground, the development of public parks near Astana, walking tracks, and playgrounds. He also proposed organizing activities under the Suru Festival at the Barburchey View Point to attract more tourists and further enhance the area's tourism potential.

Speaking on the occasion, Councillor Syed Ahmad Razvi congratulated Zakir Parwana for his dedication and visionary efforts. He urged the youth not to rely solely on government employment but to actively explore opportunities in tourism, entrepreneurship, and self-employment. He also appealed to the concerned departments to promote Sankoo's historical, cultural, and natural attractions and emphasized the need to improve road infrastructure to make tourist destinations more accessible.

Representatives from various departments, religious leaders, and members of the public also addressed the gathering. They appreciated the establishment of the Barburchey View Point and lauded Zakir Parwana's commendable initiative, expressing confidence that such efforts would inspire more young people to contribute towards the development of the region.

Speaking at the event, Zakir Parwana expressed his gratitude to the CEC, public representatives, government officials, religious leaders, and the people of Sankoo for their unwavering support. He said that the Barburchey View Point is only the beginning of a larger vision and reaffirmed his commitment to developing additional tourism attractions across the region. He also invited tourists from across the country to visit Sankoo and experience its breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Zakir Parwana and a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to work collectively towards promoting tourism and ensuring sustainable development in Sankoo and the wider Kargil district.
