Training of Trainers Programme on Entrepreneurship Inaugurated at Leh


Leh, June 22 (Scoop News)-A three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme on Entrepreneurship under the Enterprising Ladakh Project was inaugurated today at the LAHDC Conference Room, Leh. The programme, being conducted from June 22 to 24, aims to develop a pool of professionally trained Entrepreneurship Trainers in Ladakh who can guide and mentor aspiring entrepreneurs across the Union Territory.

The programme is being implemented by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, under the aegis of the Department of Higher Education, UT Ladakh.

The inaugural session was attended by Administrative Secretary, Higher Education, Technical Education & Skill Development, School Education, Cooperatives and Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction, UT Ladakh, Ms. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, as the Chief Guest. Assistant General Manager, NABARD, Leh, Shri Tsewang Dorjey, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour.

In his welcome address, Dr. Diwakar Singh, Assistant Professor and In-charge of the Enterprising Ladakh Leh Office, highlighted the need for trained entrepreneurship mentors in the region and emphasised the importance of building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem through collaborative efforts of various stakeholders.

Prof. Zahoor Ahmed Paray, Assistant Professor and In-charge of the Enterprising Ladakh Kargil Office, shared his insights on entrepreneurship opportunities and the growing scope for enterprise development in Ladakh.

Addressing the participants, Ms. Bhanu Prabha commended the efforts of the Enterprising Ladakh Project in promoting entrepreneurship and supporting local enterprises. She cited the success story of Ms. Tsering Disket, founder of Laa Textile, who established a local Khatak manufacturing unit with support from the project, thereby creating a successful local enterprise catering to the needs of government institutions and the wider community.

The Administrative Secretary encouraged participants to make optimum use of the training programme and become catalysts for entrepreneurship development in their respective areas. She also assured continued support from the Department of Higher Education through Enterprising Ladakh and other government initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Tsewang Dorjey underscored the importance of entrepreneurship in strengthening Ladakh’s economy and highlighted various NABARD schemes available for supporting micro and rural enterprises. He assured participants of NABARD’s continued support for entrepreneurial initiatives in the region.

The programme has brought together 25 participants, including entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs, academicians, Self-Help Group members and development professionals from across Ladakh. The training covers key areas such as entrepreneurial mindset development, opportunity identification, branding and marketing, design thinking, innovation, government support schemes, mentoring and ecosystem building.

The programme also includes practical activities such as goal-setting exercises, design thinking challenges, group presentations and interactions with local entrepreneurs. Resource sessions are being conducted by distinguished experts, including Dr. Nirupama from BML Munjal University, who specialises in Design Thinking for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Among others present on the occasion were Fariha Fatima, Project Officer, Enterprising Ladakh; Stanzin Chosdon and Rigzen Chosphel, Interns, Enterprising Ladakh, along with officials and participants from across Ladakh.

The Enterprising Ladakh Project is an initiative of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, supported by the Administration of UT Ladakh through the Department of Higher Education.
