District administration clarifies facts on PMAY-G/AwaasPlus 2.0 cases in Poonch
Poonch, June 21 (Scoop News)- In response to concerns raised over the status of PMAY-G and AwaasPlus 2.0 cases in district Poonch, the correct facts are placed on record.

Under PMAY-G, 49,258 cases were sanctioned up to FY 2023-24 under the SECC and AwaasPlus categories. Subsequently, a survey was conducted under AwaasPlus 2.0 across the district to identify eligible households left out of previous surveys, during which 55,698 cases were surveyed; 8,961 under Self Survey and 46,737 under Assisted Survey.

Following the survey, a verification process was undertaken at various levels to ensure only genuinely eligible beneficiaries are considered under the scheme. Of these, 11,540 cases were marked for rechecking by the respective Block Development Officer (BDO). After scrutiny and field verification, BDO recommended 86 cases for deletion, while 4,900 cases were rejected as ineligible under PMAY-G guidelines.

A majority of the rejected cases belong to the Self Survey category, where verification revealed that applicants did not satisfy the eligibility criteria. These primarily include households already possessing pucca houses, government employees and other salaried employees, pensioners and households owning pucca residential houses in urban areas — rendering them ineligible for assistance under PMAY-G norms.

The District Administration remains committed to transparency, fairness and adherence to government guidelines in implementing PMAY-G. All cases are processed strictly as per prescribed eligibility criteria so that benefits reach genuinely deserving rural households. The department has taken cognisance of the matter, and any eligible beneficiaries left out shall be considered on priority as per applicable guidelines.
