DC Kargil Chairs Preparatory Meeting for Upcoming Moharram 1448 AH

Kargil, June 11 (Scoop News)-Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar (IAS), today chaired a preparatory meeting regarding arrangements for the upcoming Muharram 1448 AH observances in the district.

The meeting was attended by the ADDC Ghulam Mohd; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shabbir Hussain; Tehsildar Kargil, Ayaz Ahmad Bhat; SP Drass, Ishtiyaq Kacho; Traffic Officials, Kargil Police officials, and representatives from ISK and IKMT.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for strict enforcement of magistracy and adherence to fixed schedules by all concerned organizations to ensure smooth conduct of religious processions and related activities. He directed that discipline must be maintained throughout the events.

The DC further stated that volunteers deployed for the arrangements should preferably be government employees to ensure better coordination and accountability. He also assured that adequate ambulance services would be made available, and instructed that upper roads would remain open to facilitate hassle-free movement of ambulances during emergencies.

Instructions were issued to the PHE Department to ensure availability of additional water requirements. The Municipal Committee (MC) was directed to strengthen cleanliness arrangements across all procession routes and public gathering points. The DC also urged minimization and proper regulation of plastic cup usage, and stressed effective management of bystanders.

The organizing bodies requested transport facilities for devotees from Drass and Chiktan, which was noted for necessary action.

It was further directed that all permissions, including arrangements for blood bank services, must be obtained in advance by both organizations to avoid last-minute complications. Prior permissions were also emphasized for any logistical or operational requirements to ensure smooth execution.

The use of walkie-talkies was advised for better coordination among departments, along with the need for a strong and strict magistrate presence during the events. The DC also instructed the Power Development Department (PDD) to ensure proper lighting arrangements in and around the town area.

Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner recalled past practices and assured full administrative support to ensure peaceful, disciplined, and hassle-free observance of Muharram in the district.

Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports Smt. Raksha Khadse Arrives in Leh for Viksit Vibrant Villages Programme

Leh, June 11: Jammu, Srinagar, June 11 (Scoop News)-Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Smt. Raksha Khadse, arrived in Leh today on an official visit to Ladakh in connection with the Viksit Vibrant Villages Programme (VVVP) being implemented by MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.

On her arrival at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport, Leh, the Hon’ble Minister was accorded a warm and traditional Ladakhi welcome. She was received by State Director, MY Bharat Ladakh, Ms. Tajamul Ara, along with officials of MY Bharat and other dignitaries. As a mark of Ladakhi hospitality, the Minister was presented with the traditional Khata and welcomed in the customary manner.

The visit forms part of the ongoing Viksit Vibrant Villages Programme, which seeks to strengthen youth participation in nation-building, promote cultural exchange, and foster sustainable development in India’s border villages. Under the programme, youth volunteers from different parts of the country are visiting vibrant villages of Ladakh to engage with local communities, experience their rich cultural heritage, and contribute to various community-oriented activities.

During her stay in Ladakh, Smt. Raksha Khadse will review the progress of programme activities and interact with participants of the Viksit Vibrant Villages Programme, members of MY Bharat Youth Clubs, and local youth. She is also scheduled to visit Hemya Village on 12 June 2026, where she will interact with local residents, Panchayati Raj Institution representatives, women, and youth to understand their aspirations and discuss developmental initiatives being undertaken in the region.

As part of her visit, the Hon’ble Minister will also interact with personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and acknowledge their invaluable contribution towards safeguarding the nation’s borders and supporting local communities in remote areas.

The Viksit Vibrant Villages Programme is being organized across several border villages of Ladakh, including Hemya, Chumathang, Hanle, Korzok, Chumur, Kuyul and Nyoma, with activities such as yoga sessions, cleanliness drives, community interactions, cultural exchanges, awareness programmes and youth engagement initiatives.

The visit of the Hon’ble Minister is expected to further strengthen youth participation in nation-building and reaffirm the Government of India’s commitment to the holistic development of border villages under the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
