Zonal Level Inter-School Tournament Kick Off in Tai-Suru Zone with Spirited Participation


Kargil, June 03 (Scoop News)-The Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments 2026 officially commenced today in the Tai-Suru Zone amidst immense enthusiasm and sporting fervor. The multi-day event has drawn around 500 student-athletes from various educational institutions across the region, showcasing the vibrant youth talent in the zone.

The tournament is being organized by the Zonal Physical Education Office, Tai-Suru, under the aegis of the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Kargil, as part of its Annual Calendar of Activities 2026. A total of 22 Middle Schools, 8 High Schools, and 2 Higher Secondary Schools are competing in the event.

The opening day featured highly competitive matches, including the Under-14 Boys and Girls Volleyball and Handball events, alongside the Under-19 Boys Volleyball Tournament.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Shri Abdul Hadi, Hon’ble Councillor for Tai-Suru, who attended the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest. Shri Mukhtar Hussain, Principal of Higher Secondary School (HSS) Panikhar, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, while Shri Abdul Hadi, ZEO Tai-Suru, attended as the Special Guest. The ceremony was also attended by Headmasters of neighboring High Schools, Technical Officials of Zone Tai-Suru, Physical Education Masters and Teachers, and a large crowd of local sports enthusiasts who brought immense energy to the venue.

Earlier, Mr. Mohd Sadiq Sheikh, Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), Tai-Suru, welcomed the dignitaries and participants. In his address, he noted that due to infrastructural non-feasibility at the existing Sports Stadium at Khows, the venue was successfully shifted to the playground of HSS Panikhar. On behalf of the organizing committee, he extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Principal and staff of HSS Panikhar for providing the ground and offering full administrative support.

Addressing the participants, Chief Guest Shri Abdul Hadi commended the organizers for successfully launching the tournament despite limited sports infrastructure in the zone. He assured the gathering that administrative efforts are actively underway to strengthen sports infrastructure in Tai-Suru, ensuring young athletes have the facilities required to excel. He also welcomed the newly arrived Physical Education Masters and Teachers who joined the zone through the recent online transfer process, expressing optimism that their expertise would significantly boost the region's sports culture.

Speaking on the occasion, Guest of Honour Shri Mukhtar Hussain highlighted the vital role of sports and physical education in the holistic development of youth. He emphasized that regular sports are essential for both the physical and mental well-being of young learners and urged schools to actively identify and nurture raw sporting talent.

The Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments will continue according to the scheduled program and are slated to conclude with a grand closing ceremony on June 12, 2026.
