| Talk on International Gold Standard Held at GDC Nubra Library. | |
Nubra, May 07(Scoop News)-Government Degree College Nubra organised a talk in the college library on the topic “International Trade under the Gold Standard” The talk was delivered by the Principal of the college, Rigzin Sandup. The talk was organised as part of the college’s Thursday Talk Series to facilitate healthy academic discourse among students, staff and faculty.
During the session, the Principal explained the meaning of the gold standard and how it affected international trade in earlier times and also traced the current status of gold standard. He further spoke about the Indian economy and explained how trade and currency systems influenced India. The talk highlighted the Bretton Woods system where the US dollar was linked to gold . The speaker also noted the rise and demise of the gold standard.
Faculty members , administrative staff and students attended the programme and listened with interest. Students and faculty also interacted during the session and asked questions related to trade, economy, and the current global economic condition.
The programme was organised in the college library to encourage open discussion and learning among students outside the regular classroom setting.
