| DC Ganderbal reviews preparedness for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 | | Stresses timely completion of works, coordinated efforts for smooth and safe pilgrimage | Ganderbal, May 06(Scoop News)-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today chaired a meeting to review arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 along the Baltal axis.
At the outset, a detailed review of security arrangements was conducted with the Police Department. Directions were given to finalize deployment locations, checkpoints and frisking points, with directions for installation of security scanners at key entry points in the base camp.
The Border Roads Organisation informed that snow clearance operations are progressing well and the route is expected to be opened well within the stipulated timeframe.
Reviewing infrastructure works, the Roads and Buildings Department apprised that most of the identified works have been tendered and allotted, with execution already underway at several locations.
The Labour Department informed that registration of pony and pithu operators has commenced and the process will be accelerated in the coming days.
To facilitate pilgrims, instructions were issued for increasing the number of RFID and e-KYC counters, including installation of additional counters at the on spot registration counter.
The DC emphasised sanitation as a priority area and directed concerned departments to ensure adequate installation of toilets and proper waste management along the Yatra route.
The Health Department informed that medical facilities at Baltal and other stations are being strengthened with necessary equipment and staff. The DC directed that emergency services be fully functional and audited before the commencement of the Yatra.
Power and Water Supply departments reported that works are progressing, and were directed to ensure uninterrupted services at all camps with adequate backup arrangements.
Telecommunication providers assured seamless connectivity along the route, with measures underway to address network gaps.
The DC stressed close coordination among all departments to ensure a safe, smooth and well-organised Yatra, and directed that all works be completed in a time-bound manner.
