| Rajiv Jasrotia demands bifurcation of Ration Cards in J&K Assembly | |
Jammu, April 04 (Scoop News)- BJP MLA Rajiv Jasrotia today raised a significant issue in the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly, demanding the bifurcation of ration cards to ensure that deserving citizens are able to avail the benefits of various social welfare schemes of the Union Territory and the Central Government.
Highlighting the ground realities, Jasrotia pointed out that a large number of ration cards currently include multiple families or extended households, which often results in genuine beneficiaries being deprived of their rightful entitlements. He emphasized that such outdated and inaccurate records hinder the effective implementation of welfare schemes and create disparities in the distribution of benefits.
The MLA stressed that bifurcation of ration cards is essential to reflect the present-day family structure, where nuclear families have become more common. He argued that separate ration cards would enable eligible individuals and families to independently access benefits under key schemes, including food security initiatives and other socio-economic welfare programmes.
Jasrotia further underlined that many deserving citizens, particularly from economically weaker sections, are unable to avail themselves of government assistance due to technical and administrative issues linked to joint ration cards. He urged the government to initiate a comprehensive drive for verification and bifurcation of such cards on a priority basis.
Calling for a transparent and streamlined mechanism, he suggested that the process should be made simple and accessible, with proper awareness among the public to ensure maximum participation. He also advocated for the use of digital platforms and field-level verification to expedite the process and eliminate discrepancies.
Reiterating his commitment towards public welfare, Jasrotia said that ensuring fair and equitable access to government schemes is the responsibility of the administration. He expressed hope that the government would take immediate steps in this regard, thereby strengthening the delivery system and safeguarding the rights of genuine beneficiaries across Jammu & Kashmir. ... |
