| IUST Organises Cybersecurity Awareness Program with ISEA, MeitY | |
Awantipora, April 03 (Scoop News)-The Office of the Dean Outreach, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), organised a Cybersecurity Awareness Program for students and apprentices of the University. The program was sponsored under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The program was conducted by experts from the CDAC-Mohali as part of a national initiative to promote cybersecurity awareness and responsible digital practices. More than a hundred participants, including students and apprentices, attended the program. In view of the growing dependence on digital technologies and the rising risks of cyber threats such as phishing, identity theft, financial fraud, and social engineering, the program focused on building awareness and practical understanding among participants. Key areas covered included password security, safe authentication practices, digital payment safety, social media risks, emerging threats such as deepfakes, and best practices for securing devices and data.
The program witnessed active participation, with attendees sharing real-life cases and concerns, which were addressed by the experts through practical guidance and solutions. The initiative forms part of an ongoing outreach campaign of the Office of the Dean Outreach. Under this campaign, around 150 students and aspiring entrepreneurs were trained in digital literacy in the previous year, reflecting the University’s sustained efforts towards building a digitally aware and secure community. A related program was also recorded at the IUST Community Radio Station to further disseminate awareness on cybersecurity among the wider public. ... |
