| CEC Kargil Attends Football for Schools Programme at PM SHRI JNV Kargil | | 
Kargil, March 28 (Scoop News)- Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today attended the Football for Schools (F4S) Programme at PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Kargil, as the Chief Guest.
The programme, organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in collaboration with FIFA, aims to promote a vibrant sports culture and integrate football into the education system. JNV Kargil served as the nodal centre for district-level distribution of footballs, during which more than 280 footballs were distributed among various government schools across the district.
The event featured a series of cultural and co-curricular performances by students, followed by a welcome address by the Principal of JNV Kargil. The programme was attended by senior officials, including SDM Waseem Ramzan Dar and DPO Ajaz Ahmad, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon emphasized the importance of sports in education, stating that such initiatives play a vital role in the physical and mental development of students. He highlighted that students are the future of the nation and must be provided with ample opportunities to excel in both academics and sports.
The CEC appreciated the efforts of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Kargil in promoting quality education and extracurricular activities. He assured that the Hill Council will continue to extend full support towards strengthening educational infrastructure. He further assured the provision of a centralized heating system for the hostel and improvement of sports facilities.
Dr. Akhoon reiterated that the education sector remains a top priority for the Hill Council Kargil and stressed the need to address infrastructural gaps in schools across the district. He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education for launching impactful initiatives like Football for Schools, which provide a valuable platform for students to showcase and enhance their talents.
Speaking on the occasion, SDM Waseem Ramzan Dar highlighted the significance of sports in education and encouraged students to actively participate in sports activities for their overall development.
DPO Ajaz Ahmad expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education for introducing such initiatives and hoped that students would make the best use of the opportunities provided under the programme.
Following the programme, the CEC took a meeting with the Principal, administrative officials of JNV, and parents. During the interaction, several issues and demands were raised, including the appointment of a permanent Principal, permanent TGTs and PGTs, winter shifting of students to a more suitable location such as Jammu instead of Baramulla due to harsh weather conditions, drinking water issues during winter, early completion and functionalization of the new hostel building, and the need for centralized heating arrangements in hostels.
The CEC gave a patient hearing to all concerns and assured that all possible support would be extended. He particularly assured that centralized heating arrangements would be taken up under the District Capex in the next plan year. He also stated that the issues concerning staffing, winter shifting, and infrastructure would be taken up with higher authorities of JNV in Delhi.
The programme concluded with the distribution of footballs and a vote of thanks, marking a significant step towards promoting sports and holistic development among students in the region.
