| Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Session Held at University of Ladakh, Leh Campus | | Leh,March 10 (Scoop News)-A Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament session was successfully held at the University of Ladakh (UOL), Leh Campus, on 9 March 2026. The programme provided a platform for young minds to express their thoughts and perspectives on the theme, “50 Years Since the Emergency in India.” The event was organised by Mera Yuva Bharat, Leh, UT Ladakh, as a district-level initiative, bringing together participants from various colleges and institutions across Ladakh. From this round, 10 participants were selected for the Union Territory level, where they will advance to the next stage with the opportunity to represent Ladakh at the Indian Parliament. The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Jigmet Deachen, Dean of the College and NSS Coordinator. On behalf of the University of Ladakh, he welcomed the distinguished jury members and expressed gratitude for their wisdom and guidance in selecting the best students for the next level of the competition. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, Prof. Saket Kushwaha, joined the session virtually and conveyed his best wishes to the participants. He also thanked the organisers for conducting such a meaningful platform for youth engagement and democratic dialogue. The competition commenced with each participant delivering a three-minute speech on the topic. Participants represented several institutions, including GDC Khaltse, EJM College Leh, University of Ladakh Leh Campus, and GDC Nubra. Dr. Subrat Sharma, who also addressed the gathering, shared his personal experiences from the time of the Emergency. He also extended Women’s Day wishes and appreciated the fact that all participants in the session were women, highlighting it as a powerful example of women’s empowerment. He encouraged young women to continue raising their voices and actively participate in democratic processes. The event concluded with the felicitation of the winners by the jury members. Idzes Angmo 7. Fatima Shabnam 8. Lhazes Dolma 9. Mipham Dolkar 10. Sonam Yangdol The vote of thanks was delivered by Tajamul Ara, JD, Mera Yuva Bharat. She thanked the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh for consistently supporting and collaborating with the Viksit Bharat initiative. She also expressed gratitude to the jury members and congratulated all the student participants for their enthusiasm and dedication, along with special congratulations to the winners. The programme concluded with remarks from Sonam Chosjor, JKAS, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer, Leh, who made an important announcement regarding an upcoming national-level symposium scheduled for May. The symposium will involve participants from around 40 countries attending and participating in the “India’s Idea – International Symposium.” He encouraged both students and teachers to actively participate in this global academic initiative. The session proved to be an inspiring platform for youth to engage in meaningful dialogue, demonstrate their public speaking skills, and reflect on important moments in India’s democratic history.
