JKSGRDS to celebrate 649th Parkash Utsav of Sant Shri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj on Feb 1
Shobha Yatra on Jan 28

Jammu, January 25 (Scoop News)-All Jammu & Kashmir Shri Guru Ravidass Dharma Sabha (AJKSGRDS) has announced that the 649th Parkash Utsav of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj will be celebrated with great religious fervour and devotion on February 1, 2026, at Krishna Nagar, Jammu, which is the headquarters of the Sabha. Ahead of the main celebration, a grand Shobha Yatra (Nagar Kirtan) will be taken out on January 28, 2026.

This was informed during a press conference held by the Sabha, in which the Convenor of the adhoc body, Er. R.C. Bhasin, along with all executive members, prominent members of the Ravidassia biradari, and representatives of various branches, Sabhas, Satsang Society, and Sikanderpur Trust participated.

Er. R.C. Bhasin said that the Shobha Yatra will be organised under the aegis of Shri Shri 108 Swami Gurdip Giri Ji Maharaj and will start from Krishna Nagar Gurudwara at 11 am. The Yatra will pass through Guru Ravidass Chowk, Vinayak Bazaar, Gummat, Indra Chowk, Secretariat Rotary, Shalimar, City Chowk, Raghunath Bazaar, Vivekanand Chowk, Prem Nagar, Gujjar Nagar Bridge, and will culminate at Guru Ravidass Dharamshala, Bahu Fort. He said the programme will be totally non-political, but people from all walks of life, including social activists, political leaders, and officers of all ranks, are expected to participate and pay their obeisance to the great social and religious reformers of the 14th century.

Prof. G.L. Thapa appealed to the entire biradari to participate in large numbers in both events and stressed the importance of maintaining discipline during the Shobha Yatra. He also emphasized that all jhankis should be properly decorated and reflect the life, teachings, and mission of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj.

M.R. Bangotra also supported the views of the speakers and appealed to the community to participate in both the socio-religious programmes with full devotion and unity. He said that the present body of the Sabha is working with full zeal and commitment and cautioned people to remain vigilant against any false rumours.

A large number of women members were present in the press conference and expressed great enthusiasm for the upcoming celebrations. Several ladies and other prominent members of the biradari also addressed the media and appealed to the general public to actively participate in both occasions.

Prominent members present on the occasion included Prof. C.L. Shivgotra, Er. Joginder Paul, Kuldeep Fouji, Tarsem Loach, Sham Kalsi, Des Raj (Jaswan Sabha), Ram Singh, Bimla Devi, Ratno, Amrti Devi, Karam Chand, Garu Ram, Dr. Buti Ram, Darshan Lal, Er. K.K. Gorka, Er. Darshan Kalsotra, Bhushan Lal, Rangesh Chander, Hans Raj (Paloura Sabha), Ram Pal, Jagat Ram, Milkhi Ram, Vijay Kumar, Ajit Kumar, Krishan Lal Sangral, Sunil Rana, Bodh Raj Kalsi, Magant Kalsi, Gaurav Ravidassia, Rashmi Tatri, Gulshan Kumar, Er. Surinder Devgowda, Darshan Kumar Basson, Sham Lal Basson, Master Tara Chand, and many others.

The Sabha appealed to people of all communities to join the celebrations in large numbers and seek the blessings of Sant Shri Guru Ravidass Ji Maharaj, whose teachings continue to inspire equality, social justice, and spiritual harmony.
